Nielsen .177 caliber slugs for a Brocock Compatto Sniper XR

The FX Hybrids are available in .22 & .25 so far. I have only tested the .22s even though I have a .25, been waiting for the .177 Hades & a good sale before I Put an order in. Also, I don’t have a .177 PCP yet. Waiting on my Goldilocks 😂

Out of my Kalbrgun Mini Cricket & my Taipan Vet Shorty, they perform pretty good at around 35 yards. I don’t shoot further than that, so that’s fine for me.

Morning, I got my chronograph yesterday and I. Checked checked how fast the Nielsen slugs were coming out of the Compatto at full power. The reading was only 670 FPS so no where near fast enough to be useful. I guess I will use them for plinking or maybe if I can get a more powerful .177 in the future. Pellets for now is what it will be.

You need to find some slugs lighter than the NSA 👍

Look up Tom Holland (Xbowsniper) He is making lighter slugs in .177 😃

Hi Soren, thanks for the link and maybe I will give Tom’s slugs a try, but I live in the Netherlands so i don’t know how difficult it will be to get his slugs, and the cost to get them here. So I will see how it goes. From sample testing my Brocock compatto is laser accurate with JSB exacts at 8.44 grain, but I need to get a shooting range to test for distance. Once the season starts I want to do hunter field target. On the local forum for the Dutch FT Assoc there is already chatter among the locals wanting light weight slugs for FT / HFT. However, people are posting they aren’t getting suitable performance, as happened to me, you can’t get the speed from the existing slugs to be worth while at 12 ft/lbs limit. I will ask to see if anyone has access to Tom’s slugs for example to see what the locals think. Also, I will see what the cost to get some of Tom’s slugs are shipped to the netherlands. If it isn’t too high I will give them a try and get back to you all on results.
