Nickel, Dime, Dollars 😂

it all depends on how big your shovel is and how much area do you have to throw dirt.
I dug my own rabbit hole in this sport and am in the process of filling it back in about half way. I only have time to shoot 3-4 guns and I own 8.
Hey, let me know. Maybe I can help you with your problem.🤭

I am fortunate enough to have started down the PCP road within budget over 10 years ago. $1000 bought me a brand new gen 1 Marauder, a BSA FFP scope, a Hill hand pump and a Beta Chrony. I also had a $50/month ammo budget, which I spent even if I had not gone through all of my previous order. But I still have and use all of the equipment I purchased originally except the Hill hand pump, which died a few years ago and was replaced with another hand pump. I am also still shooting pellets I bought 6 or 7 years ago...
But I can look over at that Marauder and realize that I've put several hundred dollars into various bits and pieces over the years to make her what she is today. Some of it practical, like a Lothar Walther barrel and some maybe not so much, like that RAI billet aluminum trigger guard (which is barely discernible from the OEM plastic part - but damn nice to have). The RAW setback trigger... yeah, she's special. To me. I could never recoup the cost of all that stuff. Not many other's would "get" it.
@rcarlisle, that's the way to do it for sure, adjusting for inflation of course the budget would have to be $8.7k now. LOL I considered the hand pump. I'm not afraid of the exercise but I need to listen to my body and it is telling me to skip the pump. I'm hard headed. Despite my health issues, I try to exercise routinely by road cycling 20-30 miles several times per week when the weather permits. A huge change from the 60-80 rides I routinely rode prior to becoming injured 7 years ago. I pay a dear price by 6 pm each day I exercise with a pain of 8 or 9 on a 10 scale but I do it anyway. I refuse to be bump on a log. However, I did have back surgery last week so the pump is a no go despite my desire to add it to my workout. In fact, the break barrel I'm shooting now is literally a pain to use.

What no springers, co2 rifles or pistols?

You must be new...good start.
@houston I have a springer/break barrel. It's painful for me to use due to chronic back problems and I do not care for the lack of accuracy inherent with break barrels. My love for shooting has been recently rekindled after a long absence. I was known for my marksmanship as a younger man before and during my military career.

I am very competitive and my disabilities have taken me away from the more physical outdoor pursuits I enjoyed and honestly I lost my competitive drive. This has sparked that drive once more.

I too started with a gen 1 marauder. I made the mistake of getting a 25 cal and a hand pump 15 years ago 😅

Thanks, How bout Kieth Moon ? Haa. I only got the drums cause it’s one of those never could afford in my working years.
Just bang on them when getting boozed up listening ( LOUD) rocking out.
Lifelong gun guy but love that I can shoot every day without going anywhere.

Whats your first gun? How do you fill it?

Ooooo what do you race ?
Is your handle a Led Zep reference?

For those of us who are boring… boring and practical, there is a need (or at least a goal). What is meant by practical? One of the most practical pieces of advice I have ever heard came from my little lady when I moved from the city to the country. She advised, “If your socks have burs and stickers in them, don’t throw them in the washing machine with your underwear.” So practical is not some theoretical, distant thing. You CAN be practical and it is usually good for you.

Thanks to the great advice on the forum, I have moved slowly and as deliberately as I could to achieve my two goals with fairly inexpensive purchases. There is no need to spend a thousand dollars to shoot a starling, although competition guys have loftier goals and deeper pockets. It is their hobby, but not mine. I really enjoy shooting, time in the woods, and the accuracy required for my needs. My needs are humble and I accept the limits. Yes, I have the money to go deeper, but not the desire. Boring is beautiful!
I stopped washing my underwear a long time ago, so no problem there.

Honey I only want pellet gun and a compressor. Well ok. 18 months later I getting the look :cautious:. Still shoveling the hole deeper. Today picked an A/C unit for the upstairs room. My family's 100+ year old house never has had A/C, but I need one now for my gun room to control humidity.
Maybe if I dig the hole deep enough I'll reach China so I can buy direct from manufacturers and avoid all the new tariffs...🤣

If you lived here in California, near Fresno, you would never say you never had an A/C in a 100 year old house. I grew up without A/C and swore as a child that on day I would live in the lap of luxury with an A/C in both my house and in my car...and I would use em both as much as I wanted!

Just in from work. 94's outside, 70% humidity. Clock on wall says 87 degrees in living room. But with ceiling fans, and mountain breeze thru windows it's not bad. Plus my electric bill stays below $100 a month year round. Work with guys that say theirs running 300+ right now.

I'd rather spend money on toy's. New barrel for my big bore is on way to dealer, that cost is still unknown. Need pellets once that's taken care of. And eye on another gun purchase.
Be warm won't kill me. Not having stuff to play with, now that would be torture.
