Newbie questions about slugs?

Please excuse my ignorance on the subject.

My line up includes a .177 S510, .22 and .25 Gladius and .30 Hatsan BT65SL Carnivore.

Are slugs compatible with any of these guns? Not concerned with accuracy at this point, just wondering if I can cause damage to the guns with slugs. I’m quite satisfied with shooting pellets and most likely would try slugs in the .25 and .30 at some point just for curiosity on how they would group

I would have to disagree that choked barrels won’t shoot slugs. Not only will they not hurt your barrel but you may find your most accurate projectile yet. My cricket II .25 and war valved marauder .25 and .22 bsa sportsmen hv all love the fx hybrids along with several others including nsa and griffin. My other .25 marauder only shoots griffin slugs well. My kral pb .22 shoots the knockouts and nsa very well. Haven’t tried slugs yet in any of my other small bores but will most likely find one they shoot well. I suggest you look around and see if you can find a video about your gun and caliber where someone posted negative or positive about slugs for a starting point of what to try. I would also suggest trying the fx hybrids first as they seem to work well with a lot of different barrels. Good luck!

I don't have any rifles that are choked that shoot any slugs well..Especially at any distance. That doesn't mean there aren't some that do. A choked barrel squeezes the skirt before exiting the muzzle. A slug that fits into the barrels grooves all the way for proper air seal gets squeezed too much on it's way out and likely won't be accurate at longer distances. The skirt on the pellet stabilizes the pellet in flight but also provides an air seal in the barrel as the head of the pellet is designed to ride the lands without an air seal. I know most of you know this but the question was asked by a newbie who might not know. This is why people who shoot slugs want un-choked barrels.

It can be a challenge to find a choked barrel that shoots slugs great all the time. But don’t get misled. Remember what some guys consider a good slug shooter is horrible compared to what others consider good. I only have one choked gun with a real barrel, not liner, that shoots slugs. But it only shoots one slug and it’s heavier than I would like. Another thing I would like to add that might be over a newbies head is many people focus on their chokes when trying to get a gun to shoot. But the problem is in their leade. It was cut for seating pellets at pellet depths. Some think they are chasing a slug that agrees with their choke when in reality they are chasing one that agrees with their leade.
