Greetings All,

I am a newbie with zero experience. Does it hurt the air rifle with compressed air in it or should you completely discharge the air? Thank you.

A PCP should be left with an air charge, healthier for all parts concerned. I don't store mine fully charged, but always with a minimum charge. If an air gun is regulated, you should keep a charge greater than what the regulator is set for. Hope this helps, WM

Think of it like a fire extinguisher, they go years holding a charge. Shipping, air travel, repairs and other reasons, may require air discharge, otherwise leave an air charge, they're designed for it. WM

Welcome jde it's better for the seals to keep the tank charged . The comment about the reg is good advice too , keep the charge above the reg pressure. Lots of good people here with tons of info. But do your part too a study your gun. It will make your learning curve smoother.

I typically fully refill my guns after shooting when the reg reads 50 percent max fill or less. I usually shoot every weekend, but have gone up to 2 weeks not shooting. No problems.

Have you narrowed down your choices ? If so what are your picks and why? Many here can give you feedback on pros and cons. Things to consider, what will it be ? Backyard pinker, woods hunter,or long range 100yrd plus shooter. Also consider price range of total package ,gun, optics, and fill source.

Thanks for all the great feedback! I was looking at a Talon SS or Benjamin Armada, both in .22 caliber. I will use it for target shooting and mostly plinking. I am still trying to research and do my due diligence.
