Newbie question: PCP hand pump fart noises

Hello everyone, 1st post here. I'm new to PCP airguns. Today I got Sig Virtus PCP with hand pump. When I try to pump - even without the gun's air tank attached - the air output from the pump is very faint (i could blow more air) and it (the pump) makes - please excuse the language - silly fart noises. With the gun attached, the manometers on either the pump and the gun don't move a slightest even after about 50 pumps. I'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong, or should i just pump more. I searched the Internet for similar issues, but the only google result mentioning something like that doesn't load for me. For reference, the pump is chinese (?) three-tact "Bull" brand. I took it apart to see if there are any apparent issues inside - found none.

I'd appreciate any hints. Thanks!

Make sure the bleeder screw on the pump is closed tight. And the last little bit on the down stroke is where it squirts air into the gun. My old pump did sound like a fart. You have to pull it all the way up and compresed fully in order for it to function.

The Sig Virtus has a 13 cuin tank so it will take quite a few pumps to fill from empty. +1 on making sure that the bleed screw is sealing closed.

some guns air containers need a "short sharp shock" after their air falls below a certain pressure, you may need to get a fill/start from someone with an air tank.

Perhaps cock the rife prior to pumping, hammer on valve may be preventing you from filling. Also as noted, sometimes first filling of totally empty gun needs a blast of air.

Yeah okay, the pump is making fart noises.

After pumping for 5 minutes or so, you will hear fart noises but it will not be the pump .

I have one China pump that is a farter. I took it to my 77 year old dads house and left it with him for his gun. He can just tell my mom it’s not me, it’s the pump.

If all else fails I read a while back load some felt cleaning pellets to seal the breech if you are pumping a cylinder starting with zero pressure. I did try it and it worked. YO!

Speaking of farts not sure if it's true or not I read online the Covid19 can be spread by farts. Look it up. Social distancing- If you can smell it Then you're too close. YO!

Thanks everyone! It was indeed the bleeder screw that needed a little extra tightening. I put the pump in the bathtub and submerged the bottom valves, which revealed that the bleeder leaks air (though i thought that it's firmly fastened). I've never noticed my hand pumps farting, the only thing doing any farting is usually me.
