Newbie needs guidance

So I'm thinking about all of your great thoughts and ideas. My original plan was to take the PCP to the range when I shoot my 9mm handgun and carbine. Then I got to thinking about something bubblerboy64 said and I couldn't help but stop and ponder it -->

You might get the bug and get into the PCP but I’d think a nice 22 long rifle might be a better investment.

I looked at the prices for some semi auto .22's and they are less money than what I wanted to do. Way less money than a PCP. It looks like I can buy 5000 rounds of blazer .22 LR and a rifle for less than $500 online. I know that may vary, and my local prices may be different, but it's something to throw in to the equation for sure. Now I have to take in mind that my original thought was to take the PCP to the range and enjoy some low cost shooting (after the initial investment), but the .22 idea is solid, especailly after adding all of the variables of the PCP.

Anyway, not sure where I'll end up, and I'm still looking at all the links and information you guys sent. Again, thank you all.

I understand where you guys are coming from when you steer me away from what I was asking about, I truly do. I belong to a shooting club, and I do shoot other guns and kind of know what I want to do. An uncle of mine MANY moons ago told me something that has not left me. He said, when you want something, go get it and buy the best you can.

I get it, believe me, I get it. I just didn't want to collect a bunch of guns in the process of getting to the Goldilocks Zone. It's not easy getting, or privately selling guns in New Jersey as you all know. Right now I own 3 guns and I shoot them all.

Anyway, just my too sense...

Many guns have a male foster fitting on them like in the link and the tank, pump or compressor has the female part at the end of it's fill whip. Else they will have an adapter that will accept the foster.

Just a thought but spending $3,200 on a first gun and accessories is a bit much for most people. Maybe get something a little less expensive to start to see if you really want to go all in with this addiction/sickness. Unless you are well enough off to where the funds just don't matter. There are those here who like to watch out for others when it comes to this sort of thing though myself included.

Don't forget the semi auto. I have owned a ton of pcp's and sold them all but 2. The one I really like and hunt with is a Huben .22. Now, what you need to decide is are you going to use this to hunt or paper punch? The Huben is made to hunt.. I had a Steyr and it was alright but 5 round clip was a downer. The Huben is fully external adjustable. Shoot either pellets or slugs. Great rifle in my opinion.

Because you stated you're shooting at a gun range and not in a back yard. No Air gun is going to give you the accuracy you are expecting shooting at a gun range. Yo!

I am not expecting anything. I just want to learn HOW to shoot. Learn how to move the trigger without moving the gun. I can get away with a BB gun in my backyard, but probably not a pellet gun, or PCP.

Thanks again, and all good advice. I agree about the complexities and accessories required for a good PCP setup. My original thought of cost savings was not a valid one it seems. If I lived in a place where I could step out my back door and have at it that's one thing, but I can't do that with a PCP or probably not even a pellet gun. I get away with it using the Daisy BB gun because it's relatively quiet and has no real energy.

So if the backyard is out for pellet/PCP, and taking a pellet or PCP to the range is my option, I still have to strongly consider a plain ole .22 rifle. I checked at my local gun shop, and I can get a decent Ruger semi automatic, an extra clip, and 2500 rounds of ammunition for $556 ready to go.

Bob, I think before you buy ....consider and research this. I think somewhere I read that air rifles are not legal in NJ. I'd hate for you to hit that wall. If I'm wrong then someone will correct me. And I hope that I AM wrong. We all should all be allowed to shoot air rifles no matter where we live.

EDIT: I couldn't delete so I just checked and laws were changed in NJ back in 2013. I think it was more that you couldn't buy an air rifle online to be delivered in NJ. Anyway would have deleted if I could. Apologies.
