Newb looking for suggestions

Get a few different pellets. Try about 10 brands and pick the best one (every gun likes a certain pellet, and hopefully yours likes a cheap one). It takes about 500 shots for the gun to break in.

Antv20, if you ordered an HW97 in 177 the most popular pellets for that gun among the FT crowd seem to be the JSB 7.87, the JSB 8.44, and the AA 8.4. The JSB 8.44 comes in a couple diferent diameters. I have been buying the 4.53 mm. Any of those should do reasonably well out of your gun. In fact until you gain some experience you may have trouble telling them apart. You might try the FT guys and see if they have any recommendations. All you need at this point is a pellet that will group under an inch at 50 yards until you learn to shoot the gun.

Gamo is made out of recycled junk, literally. It is the coolest part about them. They make eco friendly rifles. With junk.

Update: HW97K arrived today with UTG scope. Only had time to put about a dozen pellets through it. Really like it so far. Wasn’t expecting the weight but didn’t notice as much towards the end. Only negative is I need more target practice. Consistently missed target at 25 yards but had them all grouped together where I did miss. I know it’s due to my technique and unsteadiness. Thank you all for the recommendation.

I dunno about that. Put me in my 90s. Lol. That thing is built like a tank.

It is a tank. All of their rifles are simply incredible, and hence the reason when someone posts Gamo or similar brand we say “well it’s not a Weihrauch.”
