New vermin in town, need suggestions

When I first moved to N Texas in the early 1980's the armadillos were everywhere. Mostly all over the shoulder if the highways after being run over. Nowadays I rarely see them. One or two a year. That's it.
On a side note, I lived here for 38 years before seeing a deer.
Guess they relocated north! Deer didn't like the new neighbors and went south.

As much as I hate to say it, in this instance, google really is your friend.

The moving speed bumps are fast, powerful, and ridiculously destructive. They are extremely nimble for looking so awkward. The things are also blind as a bat. Baiting doesn't work, but fences set up to steer them does wonders. A friend put up sheets of plywood and they followed along it right into a havaheart trap. The next morning, his square trap was round in shape from all the thrashing around. He got there just in time before it could escape. He has since started making his own traps out of heavier duty material.
I've heard of people putting fish seines down on their yards, also, to ensnare them when they start digging. Not really sure of the feasibility of that or how well it worked.
Shooting is definitely a sketchy proposition with a pellet gun. My thoughts would be to aim down the neck on a quartering toward profile. Might prevent some ricochets and a better possibility of hitting the vitals.

We have them where I live in SC and I've seen a few in the yard but not gotten a shot yet on one. They make little holes in the lawn but don't do a lot of damage. My soil has a lot of clay so it's hard to dig in, they might make a bigger hole in softer soil. The ones I've seen were not very big. I'd probably use my 32 fpe 22 on one. Maybe even my 19 fpe 177. Size wise the 177 is enough but you have to get through their shielding. They might be up under my shed. My dog thinks she smells something there. I'm not going to poke around to try and find them but if one presents itself for a shot we'll find out how my airguns work on them.

Have always heard cold limited their expansion north. Exceptional sense of smell, good hearing but weak eye sight, only seem to pick up movement. They won't go over anything only around or under. A tiny boarder fence will keep them out of any place you don't want them. They can dig under but long as the fence is not too long they seldom do. Easy to kill, if you hope to recover, head shot best for that. Often their last dance after being shot looks like a over the top gymnastics routine. Whole family has eaten them, played with and kept as pets. Counting grand parents that's around a hundred and fifty years now. None of us have gotten leprosy from it. All in all pretty easy animal to catch, kill and control. Don't bother worrying about them too much. They are about as much like a hog as a rain shower is like a hurricane.
