new Vectis issue

hello, my 1st post. received my new Vectis last week, put only a few mags thru it and something fell apart in the lever action where the ball or balls click in to lock it closed. the only thing in the lever now is 1 loose ball, won't latch, still shoots. I wasn't smart enough to look at it closely before so don't know what fell out. does anyone know if there are supposed to be 2 balls (one each side) with a spring between or what? as I said right now only 1 ball and no spring. I left 2 VM's at Hatsan this week and filled out their service form online but no response yet.

See if you can find a parts diagram online-that should answer your question.

Hatsan has links to parts diagrams on their website but the Vectis one won't open up. They did email me late today an apology for the problem and asked for a copy of my receipt from Midway USA, which I sent to them. Also late today I crawled around in the mulch bed below my back porch and amazingly found the 2nd ball bearing.

Looks like a generic drawing of a spring to me

If the spring you found is not from the Vectis then there's most likely another spring hiding out in your carpet.

Maybe going barefoot will help find it

Still no response from Hatsan since I sent the proof of purchase. not impressed with their service and it is impossible to get anyone on the phone. They don't return calls.

rec'd an email today with tracking number for the return of my Vectis. Pretty fast turn around once they got to it. hope it lasts this time.

so received the Vectis back from warranty service on march 26th. shot it twice (maybe 5 mags) and one of the detent balls is missing from the lever again. this is getting old. has anyone else with a Vectis had this problem?

Also have a Vectis (.22), but until now this didn't happen to mine.

Your the. 2nd one I have heard about that has lost the detent balls on their Vectis lever.

I think the steel sleeves that are molded or pressed into the pistol grip to catch the detent balls are shaving down the thin steel retainers that hold the balls in place. you can feel a thin sharp wire edge like when you sharpen a knife.

so today I received a completely new Vectis from Hatsan. This is what I requested they do when the lever detents failed the 2nd time. I don't know if the did this for goodwill or if they couldn't fix the other one. I am happy with the result and hopefully this one will not have the same problem.
