New to the forum

Hello, all!

My name is Michael, I've been shooting co2 and multipumps since I got my first Marksman break barrel for my 7th birthday in 1993. I'm up to a RWS Diana 48 for springers, and am looking to get into PCPs for target, varmint and hunting, primarily due to the difficulty to source PB ammo. I also have a CNC and small machine shop attached to my woodshop, which is my primary business, so I want to play with making some molds to make my own pellets and slugs.

Right now I'm looking at getting a Xisico Sentry 705 in .25 and a Bulldog or similar for larger game. I live in the high desert of SoCal right now, but in a few months we will be getting our house sold and moving to East Kentucky.

Thanks for an awesome forum and I look forward to learning a lot here!

Welcome Michael, you are definitely in for a lot of fun! This is a great forum with lots of helpful folks to help iron out any problems that come up with a gun. You are going to be pleasantly surprised by the incredible accuracy of some of the PCP rifles available these days. Once you try a high end PCP it’s all over lol! The disease sets in fast. With the right set up you can shoot flys at 60 yards lol! I started out with a .25 marauder and could hit a quarter at 50 yards off of a bench and bags with no trouble. I started wondering how accurate a airgun could be and watched some videos. I saw an English fellow who was shooting a Theoben rapid at about 50 yards if I remember correctly, he shot a hole in the paper and then used it as the bullseye. I was so impressed that when I got the chance I bought a .20 cal. Rapid and it’s definitely my favorite and most accurate rifle. Get ready for an awesome adventure!

Well... I just jumped in with both feet a bought a Benjamin Bulldog/ Mega Pitbull that was listed last night for sale here. It seemed like a good price for a good big bore for deer hunting once we move. Now I am looking at the Xisico Sentry 705 in .25- it's only $320 and seems like a good option for a .25 that's proven and easy to work on. I was looking at the Avenger, but it seems like folks are having leaking problems with them, and I prefer a wood stock if I can get one. The Kral PB Silent in Walnut is nice too, but after dropping $820 on the bulldog I don't have a whole lot left to spend. I'm looking, though! There seems to be a whole lot of options in the lower price market right now.
