New to compressors -- is there supposed to be a smell

Just used my GX Oil-free compressor. Worked like a charm. But smelled like something awful. That smell is also present now when firing the gun, to a much lesser degree. The first fire, it was pretty intense. I fired into a towel and didn't notice anything on it. Anyone have any input for me? Much appreciated.

As far as performance, it worked like a charm. It did take the better part of a half hour to fill my 580 cc tank to 3600 psi but I think that's to be expected

The low speed GX compressor does not have water cooling. It is slow. It will smell of grease. Do not ever start it with pressure on the hose. I run mine for 5 seconds before I close the bleed valve.

You cannot compare the YH to this model.
