New to Airgun Nation

I’m new here, and a little confused. I have been active for the 10 days( can’t seem to actually see where it lists my start date) but do not know why they ask for 10 posts before I can have a little more options. So here I am trying to come up with stuff just for the clearance. Honestly, I don’t see how it will make a difference in safety on deals. Thoughts?

pretty simple really.

people want to know who they are dealing with.

nobody here would buy anything from someone that their first post is a "for sale"

and also,
the rules help populate the forum with people actually interested in learning about airguns,
instead of thousands of people just looking for a deal.

this site is much more than just classifieds,
if you get comfortable and look around,
there is more knowledge and generosity here than you could imagine.

I actually disagree with this, with as much respect as possible. I have tons of knife sales and watch sales on FB groups. Probably have move more than $20,000 in watch trans actions and $12,000 in knifes. So to say because someone is getting into airguns and nobody will buy from them seems weak when one can provide references. Anyways.

The ten posts seems to be to get a flavor of the new peeps and how they interact with the forum members in general. It also allows the new peeps a chance to meet some of the members and learn from the vast air gun knowledge that is a part of this great forum.
Ask questions and interact with threads of your interest, you'll learn a bunch.
Welcome to the AGN forum by the way, its really a cool place to hang out.

Ah, thank you so much for this. Got it. This makes perfect sense. So what would happen if after the 10 posts people found someone to not be a person that should belong. I’m more just curious if one is automatically accepted in, or if there is a thumbs down that occurs. Hopefully a thumbs down or else what is the point right? I’m just a super detail oriented person is all, so like to understand things very clearly when I initially have questions. Thanks again

Would you join the Elk's Club or the Shriners club and then question the why and the how things are done? Times have really changed since I was a kid.

The minimum post count has been explained. If a new member is reluctant to interface with the group, there could be trust and communication issues in the future. The Facebook feedback is not worth much here without the very simple and small prerequisites being met, first. Start small, earn some respect. Just like in the real world.

For a detail oriented person, you created 3 posts in the wrong forums. Please read the RULES and learn the lay-out of the forums.

It looks like the Moderation staff has moved your two PCP and Optic forum questions to the right areas.

Honestly I am asking the questions so that I can understand and see if it is for me. Only one response here has not assumed I was only here for the classified section, which seemed a little bit of a turn off. Didn’t come off as the friendliest responses. Welcome to the Elks club, but I bet you only joined for the cheap buffet benefits. To be dead honest I am a careful person, so I try to understand why a system is asking for what it does and didn’t seem to me a way to stop shady people

A valid question. The thumbs down can be achieved - but it's in the feed back part of a members profile. Just as the positive ones are. The feedback after all , is the currency on this platform.

Thanks for reaching out! Goleta is slightly above Santa Barbara. I bought a cricket a couple years ago and sold it last year. Miss the shooting. So I’m back. I belong to a ton of watch groups and knife groups. Mostly my hobby groups. I trying to decide what gun would be best to start up again. ghost, fx compact, edgun Leshiy seemed great. I don’t see myself competition shoot, but I love quality. I golf 6 days a week, so have a ton of respect for good quality equipment.

I’ve never golfed but my daughter is starting to take it up. Her new husband and his family are golfers so she is being introduced to the sport. In fact she just signed up for some lessons at a local golf club.

Don’t overlook the FX Crown MK2. The Crown MK2 is my favorite of the FX air rifles. I have one in .22 and one in .177 and they are fantastic rifles.

Perfect. I will YouTube it for sure. Doing the research to me is just as fun. Golfing is a great shrink! Does wonders.

Think of the 10 posts as a way to weed out some of the spammers and scammers. Those that are here just to scam you will give us 10 posts of answers like “good”, or “great” or “how cool” etc.
if they really want to be part of the forum, and take advantage of the classifieds, their posts will be more “meaningful”. This isn’t to say that the more cautious of members here will still not do business transactions with you purely on your lack of feedback, or time on the forum. A lot of guys have been burned in the past, and so these simple rules were put into place to help protect us a bit. Are they perfect? Far from it, but something needed to be done. It also helps keep current members observant about who they’re doing. Transaction with.
Welcome, and good luck on the forum. There is a ton of great info here, and a great deal of experience with any and all airgun platforms out there. Stay. While, you might learn something!

"So what would happen if after the 10 posts people found someone to not be a person that should belong."
Really, not much might happen.
Unless a new member is totally a flake or extremely unruly/rude (which has happened recently with a certain young member), it happens.
Those kind of peeps get weeded out relatively quickly, even though there may be many posts explaining why the new member is making a mistake, yet not heeding excellent advice. When I state "weeded out", that doesn't mean banned or expelled from the forum. Only that anyone with that kind of attitude will not find many forum 'friends'. Therefore not get many replies. It's a two way street, basically you be nice, you get nice in return.
Your posts have valid questions that deserve answers. I hope that I have helped in some way with my replies.

We are good. Like I said, the details are always in fine lines, so curiosity runs deep in me. So far, so good. Very interesting conversation with other member's thus far. Appreciate it.
