FX New to .30 cal - what works well for you?.

Hello everyone.

I have shot .25 cal high power airguns for a few years now but now i am deciding to get a .30 cal FX IMPACT M4 in 700mm with a superior liner, my intention is to get it set up to shoot slugs at pests birds, rabbits and foxes, what does everyone find works well in there .30cal impacts? Obviously i may need to get a 700mm slug liner, any answers would be appreciated.

I've had several Evanix RainStorm II's in .30 that were great for reaching out 90 - 100 yards to drop G-Hogs and Bandits only used pellets in those.
Now have an FX Dream Lite with a 700mm barrel that shoots NSA Slugs and does the exact same thing.
And I do take out Starlings with a .30 when I want to really put the hurt on them! I'm not anal about the cost of shooting .30 compared to lower cals.
Something about that WHACK sound is just so satisfying!

And I do have a pellet liner and a slug liner for the FX.

Now your bloody talking!!

Bigger hole bigger wound, faster kill.

I have taken javalinas, coyotes and wild turkeys with .25, .30 and .357.

I have taken white tailed deer with .30 and .357.

A .30 Cal at 100 fpe with 61.5 slugs is the best combination (speed/power) I have used yet up to now for hunting. I will try next season the 55 grain slugs.

The caliber I like the must for hunting from rabbit to javalinas is .30 Cal, but for all-around I like the .25.

Whomever has a .25 do not need a .22

Whomever has a.22 do not need a .177
Hi Emu. My question was for Redwolfpaul25 just to see if (with his .25's) he was perhaps having to use follow-up shots on critters, or perhaps was needing more energy downrange (long distance shots?), or perhaps having to deal with high winds and hoping a .30 would help, etc. From his reply, I guess he's not having any of those problems with his 25's.

I like your info though -- good stuff. For what it's worth, my only PCP (that I've had for about four years) is an FX Maverick .30 sniper and only shooting NSA slugs. I'm currently shooting 54.5's at 900fps with the 1:18 twist liner. I have shot the 54.5's from my Maverick at 1002fps -- 121fpe.

If my regulated .30 slug gun ever breaks and I can't fix it due to lack of replacement parts, I'll buy another regulated .30 slug gun with another long barrel. It won't be an FX though.

I really love .30 cal Airguns. I use the heck out of them for hunting. They have their place right along side my .22LR and .22MAG every time I go out hunting. Never leave home without one.

I agree with the consensus, I default to pellets 95% of the time. Very accurate and deliver tons of power. If I do slugs I go with FX hybrids Javelin G2 because I usually have the easiest time tunes for those.

My first dirty 30 was an Impact MK2 Compact I got from Dr. Mike. Man what a great Airgun. If you can do the M4 sniper in 30. It will love you back for years.

My own built custom ....
Marauder G2 based with ONLY the Trigger group, Partial stock, Partial air tube being semi original.
Every other part & piece from someplace else.
Cruises at 90fpe and leaned on near 130 fpe.
Accurate to a shooters fault.

If its only the trigger group and a piece of the stock and air tube from a Marauder…

… that’s a “Motorhead G1”…. not a Marauder G2, lol.
