new to .22

14-15 grain in a pellet id assume.

Like xman is 14.3 about as standard as it gets (you know that walk in everyday at walmart)

Maybe find a chart to review

Mo-Ron,
very nice table of .22 projectiles. 👍🏼😊

I'll throw another one in:

🔘 .22 pellets, limited to:
high quality (e.g., no Gamo)
high BC (e.g., min. 0.020)
sorted by weight
with published BC numbers

I'm going through comprehensive test of every 22 pellet I have in my Benji Trail NP2.

So far I've gone through 8 different pellets of increasing weight from the Predator GTO lead-free (11.75gr) to the H&N Baracuda 15 at 15.89gr. The most consistent velocities have been from the RWS Meisterkugeln at 14.0gr (avg MV 802 fps and SD 5.0 fps. Still have to run 7 more pellet tests doing the higher weight brands. But out of the lighter half I've tested I found the Meisterkugeln's most consistent. Most accurate were the H&N Baracuda Greens (12.96gr). Three 7-shot groups average 0.25" CTC size at 10m.

I'll rephrase. Assuming you want a flat trajectory, then to what range do you want that flatness? I believe it's a function of MV more than anything. For 25 yards and in 600 fps should be fine. For 50 yards you want 800 fps. If you start with that and you know the power of your airgun you can work backwards to a pellet weight that will get you the flatness at the range you want.

Caveat, IMO only beyond 50 yards should be considering slugs. The guidelines I'm proposing are based on pellets. regards
