New Stock Possible?

Fella's;

A few years ago I found a nickled RWS 34 Diana at a local gun show. The price was very good, so I bought it knowing the stock had been severely shortened for a child's use. I could fuss with it myself, cutting the buttstock square, drilling & doweling a new section on, and shaping it myself if I have to. However, the wood seems to be nothing more than a clear pine so I thought I might be able to purchase a new stock at a reasonable price. After doing some on-line searching, I've concluded once again that I'm a tech ninny, and it seems to be a rare and wonderful thing to want a new stock. Rare enough that nobody's making any great effort to let the world know that they have them for sale.

Therefore, if someone does know of a good source for an older RWS stock, please do let me know, I'd appreciate it.

Good luck on that one. My brothers kid went on using his 34 missing a stock screw and split the stock. I glued it back together and told them not to use it without replacing the screw. You already know what the kid did. Used it and ruined the stock beyond repair. That was five years ago. I have searched for one and repeatedly posted here with no luck. Bro checked with RWS and a new stock was well over $100 so the gun just sits.

Thanks guys for the prompt replies. Well, I guess I'm going to do it myself then. Ah, the mad butchery in my future! The wood nymphs cringe!! But, I'll learn something, maybe just how to drink more beer, but something nonetheless. For the record, I have zero interest in an upgrade stock, this is a rat-shootin' pest gun. No heirloom stocks need apply for the position.

What! No grinning fool emoticon?!

Hi guys,Michael from airgunstocks.com here. Thanks rockymtbiker for mentioning me. To Mentolio's questions re. someone making their own master and sending it for me to copy: you did the work, you own the master. I wouldn't add it to the master list. However, if someone came up with something really cool that you thought lots of people would want, I could do a production run for you. Re. cost to have me copy something you've made the master for, I don't charge when I create the master, so the carving prices listed on the site are the same whether you made the master or I did, which is basically $430 for a sporter stock plus price of the wood which varies from $50 on up. You can see some wood I have on hand here: http://www.airgunstocks.com/what-we-do/blanks/fancy-blanks.html

And re. CB900f's position that the RWS34 is not worthy of an heirloom stock, I would rather tend to agree. The Weirhauch's are more worthy. That said, I have made one righty and one lefty '34 stock, and the RWS guns in general are fine engineering (I especially like the '54 which I shoot in FT), but RWS saves money on the metal finishing and the stock so that the product comes in at a target price point. So, for those few that admire the basic engineering of the RWS line and are willing to polish and blue the steel and stock it in a nice piece of wood with a better shape, it's not a foolish proposition. I just wish there was an option for the plastic end cap.

Please let me be clear: the RWS34 that I own isn't going to get a custom stock, other airguns may be worth it to other people. This one's just a pest control device that needs no adornment. I do own firearms that do have fine, and in one instance hoo-haw! wood, but that's another category altogether. It isn't that I don't appreciate a fine stock, it's just that a 2X4 would do in this particular case.

If you're interested in seeing what I consider my nicest stock, go to: triple w rimfirecentral dot com & hit the CZ forum. There, find the sticky for the CZ picture gallery. In the gallery go to post #2531, page 169 I think.
