* * New Search Engine Is Awesome * *

I don’t see the appeal. You could just use google and it would do the same thing. At least with the last search, you could choose what forum groups you wanted to search.

I have yet to get the classifieds tab to work.

Worked fine for me. It was a bit picky about wordage, but it did it’s job!

Try and find a gun on Classifieds. Lots of luck

Was this sarcasm? I’ve tried a bunch and it comes rd up empty

Click on the classifieds section, and tell me you see the same results. How do I filter what results I see? The point with the old system was to filter your results based on section of the forum. This is not possible through this search. Unless I’m missing something!

I thought the challenge I was addressing was "find a gun on classifieds".

Were guns not found on classifieds?

I have to use the tab or it doesn't count? Are you 5?

One way to filter is by typing more words. I'm not saying it's perfect and I'm not saying it solves all your problems but I used it to find guns in classifieds.

My point is, the praise it’s getting is interesting to me. In no way is this search better than the last.

Am I 5? No, but I have an opinion, and that opinion is expressible here whether you like it or not. Adding more search words helps? Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. My mind however WONT be changed on this search being a better option. I can use google and get the same results. Thanks for your constructive criticism!

Well, the search brings back much more in the way of results as it is a Google like search. Whether they are relevant results or not is now much more dependent on words and phrase one searches for. I often came up empty handed with the old search. Now I get at least some results that I can usually whittle down with a word or phrase change to make it useful.

But in the end I used to use the forum search function with the choice of the Google search if things were not panning out.

Now I must rely on the one search engine which in all honesty I have only used a couple of times. Still it has brought back very relevant info both times.

There are usually pluses and minuses with any change this one is no different.

Definitely not worth the praise. Definitely better than the last search for someone like me who is a programmer and used to Google type searches.

The last search that required ticking and filling a half a dozen fields and boxes before even qualifying to push the search button was infuriating.

Granted, the "classifieds" tab should work or, better yet, there should at least be a single drop down box that would allow restricting the search to one subforum or all subforums.

It's "workable" the way it is but not ideal.
