I wouldn't describe it as 'interesting'. Although I'd only met him the day before in the first rifle match of the 2009 FT Nationals, he was easy to not like; as everyone that had the misfortune of knowing or even just meeting him agrees.
Being that he was first and I was second place in Hunter Rifle class after the first match, we were squadded together in the second match (along with third place). He ended up "beating" me by two points on the weekend.
Only almost a decade later did I learn information confirming he cheated by using a scope modified to magnify 22-24X when set to the 12X factory marking. Yes, I have proof of those facts.
Then at 2015 Nats he cheated me out of a second Hunter Rifle National Champion title; that time by using an over the power-limit rifle. We actually tied, then he "won" the shoot-off. I don't need proof of how he cheated that time, because the next year he used the same rifle (at 2016 Natts) to cheat the same way, was exposed, and permanently banned from American Field Target.
Thats why my 2009 and 2015 Hunter Rifle Second Place plaques (the two rightmost below) are in reality
National Champion titles. For all I know he also cheated me out of more than the one Hunter Pistol title (the plaque on the left above). But since I have no proof, I won't accuse him of that. Nevertheless...
