New owner with concerns

The 29th of September was my birthday and to top it off the 28th is the anniversary of my mother's passing. Aint that a bi××h! Well anyway being the only male left on my mother's side amongst all the grandchildren afforded me a $300 gift which supposedly is to arrive today. Now with this $300 I looked high and low for a break/underlever but couldn't find one of the ones I wanted so i let my cousin's decidw. The anticipation was killing me and I checked the order details and it (my present) is a gamo urban. Springer family dont worry, I have not walked over to the dark side. Im happy I got anything but now im thinking WTF? I dont have no air source (pump or tank). I don't have silicone grease. I dont have a bunch of O rings laying around. What am I supposed to do? I know nothing about pcp's. Not one thing. But I do know how to shoot a springer. So any and all advice would be welcomed. I tried looking at reviews and only come up with magazines are expensive and get a 8mm screw instead if using the 6mm for the trigger adjustment. Anyway im sitting on the commode thinking, stressing and wondering what did my family get me into. So what is my next step? I got 22cal ammo that I have to rob my Air King of but that's it.

If you need a pump you can borrow my Hill but I want it back as new ones aren’t the exact same. Plus cheap to the best ones are now $40-$199.00 and Huben just came out with The Uber 5000psi for $349.00 hand pump. Geez. If you’re going to go big, just give me a call.

There’s nothing about it you can’t figure out or improve upon yourself with your level of experience. I’d go with a shot tray like I did with Marauder. I’m not in this for fast shooting & some mags WILL deform skirts when cycling.

Edit: Josh please let us know if it’s barrel has anything stamped on it about BSA. I myself would be very interested if they’re using BSA barrels.

What's up with the stethoscope?😲

PS: Is that an Alkin W31 Mariner?

What's it like?

You can pick up a cheap hand pump for under 60 bucks. The Urban is essentially a BSA rifle. Almost identical to the Buccaneer.

Worst case scenario, you can trade it for something else. (I have a .22 Vortek tuned Diana 350 Mag,Turkish Webley Patriot with Vortek springs and seals in .22,its a BEAST. And a Hatsan 135 .30 with a Very nice refinished walnut stock and Vortek piston seal....just throwin this out there.)

Mike

PS,

Happy Birthday!

I fill my BSA to 2800psi. I get quite a few fills from my 3000 psi tank, but I haven't counted. I use it until it gets down to 2500 before carrying to the dive shop to top off. They know me now and don't always charge me for the partial fills. I have a hand pump and can top off the last couple hundred psi with it if I need to, but usually don't bother. At this point I have a few pcps and can just switch guns as my tank goes down in pressure. The BSA likes 2800, the Air Force Condor SS likes 2600, and the Discovery likes 2000.

So CM when the scuba goes down to 2500psi is the fill from 2500-2800 hard to pump?

Not hard after you learn how, probably 50 pumps with the Benjamin pump. Arms straight and put your body weight on it. If you don't top off you just get a shorter shot string, not a big deal at the house. At field target matches they usually have community air anyway, just keep your fill probe with the gun all the time with the foster adaptor on it. I have taken to asigning each new gun a soft case and notebook that always stay together. Makes it easier to keep track of fill probes, pellets, tuning results, shot strings and holdover charts.

Relax, it's all good, ..that is a good PCP starter air rifle.I got one and I have plenty of fun with it...plenty accurate,I can get all shots touching at 25yds.most of the time.I do run it down so need to Hand Pump over 70 times or more,no biggy for me.

I think you worry too much, the only thing you need is a Good Hand Pump....

For you it may be better to trade it or sell it,butt do yourself a favor and try it out.,you may like it.
