Hey Airgunners,
My name is Phil and I have been around since the good ol days of the Old Yellow and lurking on this board for a long time. I decided that since I have benefited greatly from all the great advice here that I would participate and support AGN. I live in a San Diego CA. Suburb so I mostly only have 20M for a shooting lane and I only shoot paper. I will share a couple of my experiances.
My first major experiance was not to impulse buy high powered air rifles because everyone else on the boards had one! Mine were just sitting there in my cabinet collecting dust because they were way too powerful for 20M backyard plinking. So I sold them, refocused, and now my favorite airguns are the basic QB's because they were a great inexpensive platform to learn on, and I like the challenge of customizing them to compete in accuracy with rifles 2x-3x times the cost. I was recently gifted enough QB parts to build 6 rifles. When competely assembled, I will have 9 modded variations of QBs. Of course the master "Nervoustrig" here on AGN just finished putting an LW Barrel and 2 stage trigger on my AR2079 target rifle and is doing the same with two others. The AR79 is now shooting .24CTC at 35 yards. Thanks Jason! Ill post them all once completed. Of course, I am addicted to the 22xx platform. I have 2 22xx project rifles that I think will be origional and real cool and when finished, Ill post pics.
My second major lesson is that Im not a big fan of Multishot. My old fingers make loading pellets too dificult. By the time Ive loaded a Mag, I could have already been shooting! And now with the semi -autos, spending a couple of minutes loading a Mag for 10 seconds of fun dosent seem fun to me.
I like the whole Zen of setting up my shot so I am also beginning to move to the Airforce platform and hope to mod for more shot count and less power. (I got a great deal on a AF Talon, couldnt pass it up) I just need the AF to shoot accurate out to 20M. There seems to be so many great options available now so I may will be asking AF talon questions here on AGN.
Happy shooting,
Phil
