New Mendoza

I have a friend that has a pawn shop. Found this still in box with factory seal. I have always wanted one. I wish it was the Gold Scorpion but for $60 I'll take this one. And its new!

I started to tear down the rifle. I had no idea there is beautiful wood hidden beneath the black coating. I will be stripping off the black and refinishing the stock to expose the wood.

Should I leave it the natural wood or stain it?

well it seems to be 300.00 to 400.00 rifle and it is a nitro piston -----------------------------read below----------------------------------

and the wood looks good if you could get the black finish off and that;s if you could and i would stain

but with not know the wood the stock is made of, it is a bit of an unknown

-----------------------------------------------BUT it seems the black stock is not worth that above price and not NP----------------------------------------------------------------

No it's a spring. Going to debur and tune it go over it good. I took the butt plate of and the wood is well grained. It seems harder than pine I'm not sure what kind of wood it is.

When l got it home I cleaned the barrel and shot a pine cone twice from about 40ft. Hit it both times. It is a very loud rifle. Not neighborhood friendly. It's like the one on Valkin

when looking i found the NP rifles and when i did some more digging and found your black stock rifle and thought i would leave all of what i found

the black coating will be an interesting removal job

post what you find

i bought a BEC Eurolux BEC21 ag and few years back, it's a Diana 48 copy but not a clone and i test fired it in the house and i thought i had fire a .22 LR

i think you got a steal on your new rifle

I've owned a couple of Mendozas-they're built like tanks! I found the split Savage style triggers to be pretty nice. My .22 cal seemed to like RWS Superdomes best. Mendoza actually encourages over-oiling to boost power by dieseling (mine had a port to add oil and a felt washer on the piston).

I had to clean the carbon out of the barrel frequently at first due to the dieseling, and less often as the excess oil worked it's way out. The issue I had with mine that eventually caused me to sell it was that I could not get a scope to hold still on the gun-no matter what I tried the scope and mounts slid rearward. The plastic "scope stop" by the safety was purely decorative in my experience. I probably could have solved the scope issue with a more solid mount system, but I decided to bite the pellet and get a Beeman R9. Result-airgun bliss!
