New member, Orion says Hi!

Hi everyone!

My name is Erlis but I go by OriOn and I've been pretty active in GTA forum for a while. I've been thinking opening the account here, but maybe because laziness or maybe the idea of not able to handle the two forums I was procrastinating it until today. I decided to join!

I realize that must of the people that I follow on YouTube are active members of this forum. Bob_O, Joe W, AirHunters, Steve (Airgun Evolution), Steve (AEAC), Hajimoto. Probably you guys have seen my comments on YouTube under my personal account (Erlis) or under my new channel account (Orion the Iguana Hunter)

Let me see how I can handle the two forums! Hopefully I'll have something soon to share in the Hunting gate.

See you around!

Oh yeah, you can handle two forums. Great to have you aboard. AGN and GTA are the best two airgun forums out there and I try my best to juggle them both. I'm not a hunter, but I find it interesting to watch a few pesting videos every now and then.

You'll have a blast here!

Fuss

Thanks Fuss, I'm not hunter either... I'm just happen to be taming the iguana infestation I had. Tried everything without success, until I bought my first airgun, and without knowing.. I became an addict :) and here I am.

Hey there Erles!
[That's my friend's name, and his fathers, and his fathers] Nice choice.
And what is this "Youtube" that you speak of? It sounds interesting... 🤣😜🤣

Welcome to the party [From another semi-newbie]
I thought the same thing.. I'm already an active member of like 20 sites,
and figured I couldn't juggle another one.. Wrong..
This place has been so great that I just gave up on Facebook, and a few others.

Lots of great people and info on here, so you made the right move for sure.

Nice Taipan Veteran too!

🙂

Hi Sam,

My channel is pretty new, I only have 2 videos. You can check it out here:

Hi Erles,

Thank you for the link to your channel, and no worries about it being new..
Just like with shooting - Everyone has to start somewhere.

I just watched your introduction video, and I have to say.. Great job!
Your English is really good, and you sound just like my friend Jose [He is also from Cuba]

Wow, I had no idea that the iguanas down there could be such nuisances..
Here in New York, people only have them as pets.
Our nuisance animals are more like rats, squirrels, groundhogs, etc. [rodents]

You have a really nice collection of rifles! - I really enjoyed my springers when I had them too..
Then we step up to PCP, and like you said - Once bitten by the bug - It can be very addicting. haha

The Tiapan Veteran is such a cool rifle, I'm jealous. I'm sure you love it.
And nice scope! I use an Apex Horizon Discovery 6-24x50 and it has been fantastic.

Keep up the great job, Have fun, and Thank you for sharing!

Then as far as Youtube is concerned - I'll be following along for the ride!

🙂

Sam,

Thanks for the kind words. I have the same scope, actually Apex Horizon is the name of the seller that's distributing this scopes in Amazon, but they are actually Discovery scopes. That's the scope I have on the Taipan. The TX200 has a Athlon Talos 4-14x44 and I love Athlon reticles. But the Discovery is a great scope for the money. You will see it on my next video. I just received my side-shot so I can share my shooting.

I might know Jose :) LOL, I think YouTube might help also improving my pronunciation, filming yourself and talk to the camera is really hard, imagine doing that in another language! I just hope I'm not annoying you guys with my silly mistakes!!!

Hi Joe!

What a pleasure having the opportunity to share along with all those guys... and I just want you to know that YOU are one of those guys for me!

Let me clarify, my name is Erlis not Erles but at the end it doesn't matter, I don't know how my parents found that name, but if it's too difficult to remember, you can call me Orion!

I've been here for just a few hours and I see that you guys rock!

Welcome to AGN Erlis....good to have you here! From watching your intro video, I know that whatever you have to offer will be honest and good.

I look forward to your video on the TX200. I've been wanting to get an under lever Springer for a couple of months now.

Hi Bob!

Thanks for the kind words. The TX200 is amazing, the only reason I got the PCP was because now I can take shots at 70, 100 yards and the TX won't do good at those distances. I feel that from all the rifles I own, the TX200 is the one I'll always keep.

And I want to get one just for those times when I go out locally for a couple of hours for red squirrels.

For that I want to just grab a gun and pellets real quick and walk out the door. No worries about having to make sure I'm aired up, have a magazine, etc.

The furthest I've shot one was 40yds. Most are 10 to 20 yds so a rifle like this would be perfect. I'm also considering the Weihrauch version with the stainless look.

:)

Welcome Erles ! This is Seriously the coolest Airgun forum there is By Far !!!! Great guys who know how to have fun , and help each other out along the way . I'd be lost without these guys

You'd be lost without Bella, Joe. I mean c'mon, you're the only guy out there who takes credit for the work we all know Bella does for you. You should really be showing slow-mo clips from the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in your credits.

;-)

😂

ERLIS!!!!

I apologize for mis-spelling your name before! My typing fingers work much better and faster than my brain!
Thank you for correcting me / us! *Thumbs Up* [Apparently I can spell your name correctly on Youtube] 😜

Scopes - Yes, Discovery. I got mine through Apex Horizon via Amazon Prime.. Good catch!
And agreed.. For the money, they really are a fantastic scope! And I'm really picky about glass/optics..

I just checked out your Athlon Talos scope - wow, that's a really nice setup also!

It's be nice to get a through-scope view, and can't wait to check that out in your upcoming video

I've had a few scope mounts for my phone, but just keep wasting my money.. None of them have worked..
I have a Galaxy Note 8, it has two camera lenses, and no matter what I've tried, I just can't get a good / centered picture..
No one could give me a solid answer on the side-shot w/ my phone either.. Side Shot tech said it 'should work'.
Just too expensive to take another chance.. But I'm Really thinking about it..

You might know Jose?!?! Whoa, no way . . . Small world! Hahaha
When I read that, I seriously laughed out loud! Good one! 😃

Youtube videos and self-recording: I really hope that it does help you!
I've seen so many people from different countries learning other languages, and doing videos that way..
It's neat to see the improvement! Me personally? I have extreme anxiety when in front of cameras / video cams..
I'm also a photographer, so, I just try my best to stay Behind the cam instead of in front of it..
And speaking on videos? I'm terrible at that.. You're wayyy bettter than me already! 🙂

I guess it's true what they say - Practice makes perfect, so you'll do just fine.
Me on the other hand - I'm a lost cause. haha

Alright alright . . . I'll shut up now.

Bob, I think that's a done deal if the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has some sexy midget dogs. Have you noticed Bella's size? Joe are you sure she is not a midget?

I also considered the WH97 when I was doing research. I don't think you can go wrong with either of those. For me, the decisive factor was how easy was the TX200 to work. I don't need a tool to change springs or lube it, I can do it bare hands. For the WH97 you might need a special tool when taking it apart due to the spring tension. You gave me an idea of a video right there.

I installed the Vortek Tunning Kit to my TX200 and I did that in around 10 mins with no special tools. That was my decisive factor on this gun. Another consideration is that with the TX you have the option to go with the Hunter Carbine if you want a shorter barrel. This option is not in the WH97.

Bob if you are researching, there's another rifle that is contender of these 2 and I had it on my list also. Take a look to the Walther LGU, RACKNLOAD has a nice review on YouTube. This is another great choice. I'll still go with the TX200 for the simplicity, easy to work and parts. But any of these rifles will last forever!

Hey Sam,

No need to apologize!

It wasn't easy to decide on the scope cam for me. I tried a lot of systems, the Orion system (When I saw it I was excited because I'm Orion too) but nahhh really hard to get a clear shot. I tried to build one following Steve's video on YouTube, but I couldn't get stable (Maybe my camera was too heavy).

At the end I decided to pull the trigger and get the side shot, it's expensive, but it's the best, they are releasing a version for a GoPro(3, 4) soon that won't be as expensive as the one they have listed for the modified GoPro7 (That cost as much as a good PCP rifle), I just went with the phone version but maybe that other option will work for you, and you have a dedicated camera for the gun.

I buy once, cry once but the image quality you get out of this system is second to none.
