New member introduction

New member from Montana here. Grew up shooting air guns, rimfire and later centerfire firearms of all types. Current air rifle is a break barrel. I am interested in learning more about PCP rifles and slugs for longer distance. Learning the lay out and search functions. Trying to figure out where to start. Very green so any tips or thread suggestions is greatly appreciated. If there are any members in the Billings or south central Montana area I would be interested in talking.

Welcome!

I'll be the first to say it-Where will your air come from? Most folks get tired of pumping quickly and if you're pushing slugs you'll go through a lot of air. You may need a carbon fiber tank (and you'll need a place to get it filled or have your own compressor)

Depending on the kind of shooting you plan to do the options go like this-

Pump-workable for hunting and pesting where you don't take that many shots, better with a gun with working pressure of 3000 psi or less.

Scuba tank-works good for 2000 psi guns, needs a nearby dive shop for tank refills.

Carbon fiber tank-Needs a 4500 psi fill source

Or-Carbon fiber tank and compressor.

A hint-

Don't tell you PB buddies how much everything costs till they've been amazed by what your 'bbguns' can do!.

Welcome Scott!

You could start with something simple then work your way up, one nice thing about airguns is that most hold their values pretty well and you can sell them later. Think about it as if you were renting the gun. If you buy a gun and use it for lets say 6 months, and later sell it loosing $200 think as if you just rented a gun for 6 months for $200.

I tend to keep my guns for long long time but I know people that are constantly changing, buying the latest and selling the one they had before... the classified section is a great place to find good deals!

Welcome, netennis,

To post pics-

Mouse over the photo icon to the right of the smiley face in your toolbar at the top of your post. Click on the photo icon.

A box will open with options-if you have the photo file on your computer or phone, highlight it and click 'open' -it should appear in the post in a minute or so.

FYI-it would be best to start a new thread in the 'Springers, Pumpers, C02, & Replicas' section to ask about your old gun-lots of knowledgeable people here.
