New member basics questions

Bigger pellets require more power to shoot longer distances. I shoot my .177 comfortably out to 75yds, hunt out to 50 plus yds. .22 is a great cal if you have enough power to keep it fairly flat out to 50yds. Springer and rifles within 15-18 ft lbs either pcp or springer, if going to higher power then .25 cal nd up needs a hipower pcp gun. Good luck, do your research!!

Looking to buy my first pellet gun and I have a few questions. First - what’s the major difference between pellets sizes? I looking to just target shoot for good practice. Springer vs PCP (hand pump). I really want to find a EdGun Lelya 2.0 for my first gun. Any advice is welcome. Thanks Kyle

Are you a target, Hunter, pester, long range slugs in your desires?

im sure that edgun would be capable ..if your doing alot of shooting the smaller calibers are going to be cheaper .. long range is just like a firearm imo .. i cant remember too many times i set up to shoot 200yards let alone further 'with a firearm' .. for one you need a place to do it, its likely not gonna be in your yard .. but yeah a capable gun with a nice barrel and i'd go for .22 probably for cost vs versatility ... remember all projectiles pretty much fly the same trajectory at a given speed.

I started out with a .25 marauder and a hand pump. The the .25 comes in tins of 350 pellets whereas with the .22 and .177 you get 500 pellets for the same cost. I have a Lelya 2.0 and it’s awesome, but not for shooting targets from the bench. I mean you can do it, and have lots of fun with the Lelya, but it’s more fun to me to use a conventional rifle on the bench. Lelya is a wicked accurate hunting gun for sure, and really fun (and easy) to shoot off hand. As far as the hand pump goes, if I remember correctly it’s about 65 or 70 strokes of the pump to top off the gun, (marauder) I remember sometimes I would shoot another magazine and then it would take more pump strokes. As soon as I discovered how accurate and fun airguns are I was hooked. You are definitely in for a lot of fun.

I just got a chance to check out my brothers collection today. I shot a few springers and air guns. I shot his new M3 Impact, Edgun matador, and many others. He sent me home with a Edgun Aewuu with a hand pump and Beeman Model R11. After shooting at his house, I’m leaning towards a PCP. I will investing in an air tank and we have a scuba shop right down the road. The pump is tough and will still be good to have for exercise. Can’t wait to shoot more and find the right fit for my needs.

Thanks for the advice! It’s easy to forget how people can be so bad. I see some for sale Ad’s already that list they will only use palpal as family and friend transactions. Yes - no fees, but also no buyer protections. Not sure I would send a stranger $1000+ like it was a gift to a family member.
