I called AoA about a week ago and had them connect me to their tech department. I spoke with Jacob (I think) and asked him if they had a spanner pin wrench to remove the barrel from the newer Evols' with the extended scope picatinny rail. He put me on hold and said he would check with another tech. A few minutes pass and he gets back on the phone and informs me that Tom Costan dropped off some new tools for the Evol along with their order of guns. Jacob said that they didn't know they had them and it wasn't even on their website yet. They just added them to their site a few days after I ordered them. Sometimes it helps to ask.
Unfortunately, there was no spanner wrench available for the new Evols with the extended scope rail. Bummer because it would make fixing a leak or adjusting the regulator a whole lot easier by removing the barrel first instead of the air tube. I fixed a leak about a couple of weeks ago and those that have been on the inside should know what I'm talking about. Anyways, the new items I'm referring to are the Gauge Tool and the Moderator Nut Removal Tool.
In regards to the Gauge Tool, unless you are using a really thin walled socket, I'm not sure you'll be able to remove the gauge. Yes, you could remove it with an adjustable wrench like I did prior to receiving the new tools although it's not as clean doing so. Both of the tools accept standard 1/4" male socket heads. I haven't tried using the new tools yet because there's no reason to do so at the moment. Here's a few pics of the new items and the links at AoA. Hope this helps.
P.S.
Tom, if you're reading this, could you make the spanner pin wrench for the newer Evols' with the extended scope rail available at AoA?
