New in PCP

If $500 is the total budget for rifle, scope and air source then your options are limited. A refurbished Maurader might fit the budget. A used hydroed scuba tank with fill adapter will be $100-125. A scope $40-75. Hand pump $50-60. You could do a regulated Stormrider for $270, Benjamin fortitude $300, Gauntlet $300, Unregulated a QB Chief $190 or Benjamin Maximus $190. Otherwise something used from the classifieds on here.

What is a SRV?

Self-regulated valve (regulated PCP rifle have a SRV)

I didn't know/recognize the acronym. The standard Marauder (the non-regulated one) is what most people would call self-regulating. It is tuned for a bell-curve which that is considered "self-regulating". That is apposed to the "Korean Cliff", where every shot is less than the first. The regulated Marauder has the same valve design, just tuned to the regulated pressure.

"The regulated Marauder has the same valve design, just tuned to the regulated pressure." are you sure? as I know SRV is two-chambered valve

Yes, it is the same part number on the schematics.

I can only guess to what "two-chambers" might have meant. Two chambers in a regulated gun would be the plenum and the air supply. Two chambers in a valve, is most likely referring to a "balanced valve". Not many production guns contain balanced valves, the Raptor being one. I would have to search very hard to come up with a second name. I can't imangine finding a balanced valve within the price range you are looking at.

A better approach might be defining some of your main requirements. What will be the primary and secondary uses? How will you fill the gun, pump or tank? Are you a lefty? Mechanically inclined? Have a crony? The more info you provide, the better people can suggest guns that fit. With just a price range, you will get recommendations of every gun in that range, followed by all the used guns that sell in that range, and guns that cost twice as much because they are worth it to some. :D

If you are not in a position to spend more money than 500 us for the total pcp adventure, you might rather buy a Benjamin pumping air rifle.

Not to compare with the PCP marauder or a lot of more expensive ones. But you need to fill the PCP´s rifles.

If you want to spend more money and get into this, first thing you should identify is what for you want the rifle (plinking or hunting).

If the answer is hunting, the next questions is: what are you going to hunt with it?

Depending of what you are going to hunt, you should identify the adequate power you need and the best shots per fill you should look for.

Taking good decisions you will get the must of this hobbie and you will spend better.
