I know what you mean because in general 2lb is not a huge amount of weight but when you take 2lb off the weight of a rifle then it makes a huge difference to how it feels."blackdiesel"I understand that but what I'm saying is the difference between a 8 lb gun and 10 lb gun don't seem much of a big deal.to me. I don't like bullpups and they just don't seem ergonomic to me. I've shot several and none shoot as well as a traditional rifle to me. I shoot from a Caldwell magnum fieldpod 90% of the time. I also use Primos shooting sticks and weight is no problem. I don't do any hiking with my guns but I do hike with a heavy camera, lenses and tripod and I'm sure it's more than 10 pounds.
The AT44 QE tact weighs 9.5lb and I never wanted to take it hunting because of it. It was too much for me to shoot off-hand for more than a few shots and I'm fairly strong. If you start at 10.5lb and add your average scope then you're over 12lb which is just too much for a non-bench rest gun imo. I wouldn't attempt to walk in the woods with it.
I feel the opposite about bullpups. Every one I have tried fits me like a glove and I just love the efficient use of space plus their center balance. To each his own I guess. I will say that you have to get used to a different hold though.
