Hi all. Introducing myself and whittling down that 10 post min.

I'm just getting into air guns and found this site - lots of info here. As a kid I always had multi pumps - Crosman 760 if memory serves me. Back in those days the Benjamin 392 was the dream gun! As an adult I've toyed with springers but nothing "serious". Couple of Stoegers, a Gamo, and of course I bought that coveted 392.

I'm learning a ton just reading and look forward to the PCP world.

Welcome to the best A G N
I would suggest an HW50 as a next rifle , great springer and capable rifle for target and pests . and not a lot of money . i know people that just stopped there shooting the 50 for years .
Nice to finally get the 392 for your self and memory lane .

I've mentally moved over to PCP and have a list of ones I want. I tend to go "all in" on stuff like this - lots of rabbit holes to run down and I'm sure I'll hit a majority of them.

On my list, in no particular order:
- FX Impact M4
- AEA Zeus Tactical G2 in .58
- Weihrauch HW100
- Daystate Blackwolf HiLite 23"
- Taipan Vet 2
- FX King

And I'm sure I'm not done since I'm still forming my own opinion on .22/.25/.30/.35. :)

??? do you have a particular immediate task for the bigger bore gun , specially as a first PCP ? Everything involved in a .25 and above caliber is $$$

I look at this same as my powder burner collection - rifle + caliber combination is "fit for purpose". I like having the right tools.

I settled on the list after months of research and reading, and I'm sure the list will evolve as I continue this rabbit hold trek.

Welcome
You can get a lot of good information here. Its definitely a resourceful tool when deciding what to buy.
Besides deciding what gun to buy first, you will need a pcp compressor, possibly an air tank, barrel cleaning supplies like patches, ballistol etc.
Low priced air cooled compressors will only fill your gun. Water cooled compressors are capable of filling large scba tanks too.
Deciding on caliber it depends on your needs. For me pcp is my hobby and have 25, 30, 35, and 50. I started with a 25.
Big bores use more air, they have a low shot count. Example: My 50cal gets 6 shots per fill. Some smaller bore guns can get 100-150 shots per fill.

I think the AEA Zeus in .72 is 3 consistent shots / fill. The .58 might be a little better.

I went middle of the road on compressor with a GX CS4i. I have most of the tools and cleaning stuff but will need anything caliber specific.

The tradeoffs on caliber - power, shot count, distance. I'm sure I'll wind up with at least 3 calibers.

I've got .177 and .22 in springers.
Good compressor! I highly recommend a pcp air/ water separator filter.

Good recommendation! I had that on my list but hadn't gotten around to figuring it out yet.

Welcome! I’ve learned a huge amount here and that happens regularly. My suggestion is more of a process. What do you want the gun to do? Competition, pesting, just having fun? I have not yet found one gun that does everything well. Decide on a budget and add 20% to it. Decide how much support equipment you want to haul around. If it’s a pcp you’ll need a hand pump or a compressor. If it’s a co2 powered gun you’ll need to have extra co2 cartridges. The choices are nearly endless. You’ll need to carry ammo, a rag or two, maybe some lubricants. Then there’s the choice of scope, iron sights, red or green dot sights and more. After getting some old Crosmans restored including two 760’s I have added several classics and some very modern rifles and pistols. Definitely a rabbit hole But a good one.

LOL, I wish it were 20%
I took a $100 AirForce Talon and added $600 in upgrades. That was a bit extreme as I was learning the platform.

20% on a $3000 Daystate
vs
20% on a $350 Umarex Notos

Real dollars
(Several are one time)

Air:
break barrel - none
PCP
hand pump $50 on up
Compressor $120 - $4000

Good scope $200 and up
Adequate scope $50

Pellets $50 - $100 for a good sample to start out.

Moderator
$50-$250

Accessories depends on use. Could be a simple bipod to shooting table and rest.

Tools, spares, storage etc depends on what you already have.

Easy to add $500+ to an initial mid price gun purchase and $300+ per gun after.

Low end you can get by $200+ initially and $100 per gun after.

Go high end optics and accessories and $2000 will be gone in 1 purchase.
