new guy to airguns

Retired. Thinking about a pcp rifle. Have been using a Hatsan model 25 super charger pistol at the ranger. Its a tin can destroyer. Shooting at a 50 yard range with my 'powder' guns. So thinking about something inexpensive & hand pumpable to get my feet wet (G). Like it then I can go crazy and really annoy my wife of 52 years. "You don't need another gun.".

Welcome

I like mine till the ram went flat

Welcome! Just plan on a compressor hand pumps are not fun lots of work heart pounding work. There are some inexpensive compressors out there ask the agn members they will let you know what to look at.

And the just get my feet wet though is funny trust me you will be neck deep before you know it, In fact at this point you are already there .

Yep, My motto is "If its worth doing, its worth over doing". Easy enough to jump on Amazon and click a couple of times and its in my hands in a couple of days. Just prefer to pay in cash and not use the CC. Been married so long the warranty has expired and I can't return her (G).

Hello! I’m new here too, also coming with years of centerfire experience. Good luck on your hunt for a pcp.

Go big or go home! 😁 Just kidding.
I would go for a moderately priced pcp and a compressor. You'll enjoy it a lot more.
A Umarex Notos is a lot of fun for less than $300. Add a GX CS2 compressor for less than $300, and you're set for less than $600.
A Umarex Zelos is a better first rifle for your 50yd range and will do more target shooting, hunting, linking etc.
Avengers are pretty impressive for any man's money.
Wanna do it once-n-done? Bet you can't. But if you wanna try, go to AOA used section and buy one of the used BRK Snipers and you'll have a lifetime of fun.

Simple, easy to hand pump (after the initial struggle) and dont break the bank.
Umarex Notos
Barra 250z
Niksan Elf
Snowpeak p35x
AirForce Talon, TalonP
Pinty Bullpup

But a compressor is a good investment.
I'm thinking of simple like a Diana Stormrider. Major problem is there are no stores with PCP rifles in stock so I can pay cash and avoid my wife telling me I don't need any more guns. I'm in no rush, its not like I don't have enough guns to shoot (G)..

Thanks! A lot of good suggestions, I've copied your post to a file for further study as it where. So many choices at so many price points!

Yeah, not all that many stores with air guns. Wallyworld has some and some sporting goods stores do, but usually very low end guns.

You could buy a Visa gift card with cash from a store or your bank and use it just like a credit card online. Not sure if there is a limit you can put on one.

I may or may not have done something like that to limit the financial trail of a couple online transactions.

A lot of good suggestions, making me think! I've only found one store within 20 miles that sells pellet guns. Thats where I got my Hatsan mod 25 in .22. They just sell springers. Thinking the only choice I have of feeding my pcp yen is to take a list of guns to them and see what they can order for me. Order a compressor from Amazon. Life is good!!

You could buy Amazon gift cards with cash too. Then order the whole shebang from Amazon.

You can also buy one "used" here on the forum and send a cashier's check! Make sure you are buying from a reputable member! You get the best of both worlds - cash sale and a gun of your choice. Lots of good deals in the classifieds! Get the compressor from Amazon with one of their known dealers so you can get it repaired or replaced if you have problems.

I'll check the classifieds out. So used to buy either new sight unseen or used if I can actually touch it!
