new guy to airguns

The GX-CS4 is capable of filling tanks, although it's $500-600. The smaller GX compressors are more similar to what you have ordered(gun only).

A hand pump is good to have around for backup, and the generic Chinese hand pumps are cheap. I'll sometimes fill a gun with a hand pump(3000psi or less) when I can take my time and do a couple sessions.

Lots of guys now use compressors to fill guns directly, and don't buy tanks at all.
+1, although given the cost of the GX CS1 clones. Unless someone wants to hand pump, I'd buy one of those (I have) as a spare. I sold my hand pump as hand pumping takes too long to fill a gun. Unless budget is really tight, I strongly recommend automatic shut-off as much more convenient and safer.

Read the gun manual, and read the manual for the compressor. Filled the gun tube (reservoir?) 1,000 PSI at a time, watching the comp's temp gauge. Finished up at the recommended 3,000 PSI. Compressor and gun gauge match pretty close. Put a scope on it.
"Sniper". How can I go wrong with a name like that? 4 - 24 power, of course fuzzy around the edge at higher power but acceptable at 20X. $120.00. Thinking of the range tomorrow to sight in. New scope on my Ruger PCC in 9mm so sight that in too.
Life is good!!
I sold my Ruger 9mm PCC to buy a compressor 😄

I try hand pumping and I still have a hand pump just in case but really for the price of the inexpensive portable compressors at Amazon buy one with extended exchange guarantee for $30 more and a second one just in case one fails I have the other one while it gets fixed. I also bought a water cool Chinese compressor thinking I be buying a scuba tank but now I realize with two compressors and a hand pump as a back up I’ll probably never use it, but I got a good deal for it so I’ll stay in the garage in a box in the meantime Keep us up on your journal what’s going on and how much you like the new gun thank you for your time and a good laugh

I'm fighting a terrible case of laziness this morning. I have to shim up the scope on the marauder then use my bore sighter to be able to get it on paper at the range. Bore sight the Ruger too. Then top up the air to a full 3,000 psi and hopefully to the range tomorrow. See how long the charge works for me, maybe I'll get enough pellets fired for me to feel 'complete' on my pellet shooting for the day. If its enough for me then I don't need to bother about a tethered bottle/battery powered compressor. Or maybe I'll develop such a massive desire to go crazy and put 5k on my cc and give my wife somerhing major to complain about (G). Then fire another firearm because I can stay at the range as long as I want, or it gets too warm for me..My PCP journey continues..

Agreed, I don't care for hand pumping, but I do like to keep a hand pump around just in case, especially since they are less than $50.

katonajohn, figure on 40-50 shots on the Marauder. I don't like long shooting sessions, but I usually do 100-200 shots. You'll probably want to refill at least once. I think it only takes a few minutes to fill a gun to 3000psi with the smaller compressors, so it will just be a little break. Good for a neck stretch :)

When I go to the range, and shoot a couple guns, or a longer session with one, and end up shooting 200 or more pellets, I always add up what that would have cost me to shoot a powder gun. Unless it is a 5.56, or a 9mm, the saving is very substantial. Even with the cheap PB ammo, it is a lot
