New Guy from Alabama (any UK HFT shooters out there?)

Hi all,

I'm Paul. I live down here in Heflin, Alabama. I enjoy shooting UK style HFT. Different than American HFT and much more like hunting.

I've been messing around with airguns for at least a dozen years and have owned about everything. Currently I'm shooting a RAW HM1000 in .177 that is regulated at 12fpe for HFT. By far one of the best rifles I've ever owned. I also have a Marauder in .25.

I'm gonna poke around here and see what's up. If you find yourself down this way, look me up. We have a 100 yard airgun range that is open to the public and we shoot matches monthly.

Welcome Paul.....this is a great place to hang out and talk all things air guns. I'm a fellow Alabamian as well. I'm in SW Blount county. You have the East Alabama HFT club there in Heflin? Would love to check that out some time.

@TiredRooster

Yes sir that's correct. We'd love to have you down. I'm planning on taking advantage of the calendar function here but most months we shoot the first Saturday of the month in the morning. Also there are guys that come out on Sunday afternoon and sometimes we shoot again, and sometimes we just plink around at the sight in range. I guess I need to get some pictures posted.

But you don't have to wait till then. The sight in range is open 24/7 from daylight till dark.

I live in Etowah county, about an hour from Heflin.

I had been planning to come to a match in Heflin, but changed my mind when the switch was made to the UK style matches only. Not being able to adjust scope focus during a match is a deal breaker for me. Looking through a slightly out of focus scope causes me eye strain quickly.

Might have to come check out that 100 yard range sometime.

Hey!

Yes, you should. We do other things besides FT. Gonna have a Gunslinger shoot soon.

About the UK game. Once you get the scope powered down enough, everything is in focus. Most people shoot around 8-10x, some less. Think 3D archery with airguns.

I love HFT , I shoot it as much as I can .Its big over here in the UK . Its double hard not being able to change your scope for sure , its also hard with only 11.6 foot pound on tap , on a windy day shooting 15mm at 25 yards is so so hard , but when you get .. Its ace fun !

Love HFT

It's good to see you here Paul. I attended AAFTA National's at your location in 2014. I thoroughly enjoyed shooting there. I hope you find more converts here and get use of the sites resources. Welcome.

Hey John,

Great to hear from you. Yes the Nationals were a blast for sure, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hope to have you down again one day. All the best!

Welcome onboard! I myself I'm in GA, just N. of Atlanta, but yet so far away due to work and family life. I do most of my shooting in my backyard. Would love to start shooting and learning some competitions, perhaps soon.

@intenseaty22

Thanks man. I totally get it and that's the cool thing about airguns, you can shoot in your backyard. And shoot accurately! We would love to have you over sometime. We're a pretty laid back group. We have some local guys, some from the Birmingham area and some from Atlanta. I'll be posting our announcements here and get everything on the calendar. Come on out when you can.
