New FX Wildcat MK2 .22 shooting 902fps

My brand new out of the box FX Wildcat MK2 I bought from Pyramyd is shooting .22cal Air Arms 16gr at 902fps, but, it is shooting a full 8 mag less than a dime size group at 50 yds. My question is I’m only getting about 30 shots before I hit around 115-120bar, using too much air. If I tune it back to less than 900 to get more shots will the AA’s still shoot as good, cause right now the JSB 15.89’s shoot a lil high & left at 902...also wondering if AA’s shoot better at high velocity than JSB’s? This is my 1st PCP...

I'm trying to understand your post.

When you said: "it is shooting a full 8 mag less than a dime size group at 50 yds.", do you mean you can shoot 8 mags and all shots are less than a dime sized group at 50 yards? That's some very good shooting.

What's confusing me is then you said: "My question is I’m only getting about 30 shots before I hit around 115-120bar, using too much air." Are you saying you only get 30 shots on a tank full of air?

My experience with FX rifles is all with bottle guns, so much higher air capacity, don't know what shot count would be possible with the Wildcat, But, with that said, 900 is faster than you really need, and I've found that 870-880 is fine, and even a bit less has worked well for me. Other than trajectory, I don't think you will see any loss of accuracy. But, if I understand the construction of that rifle, you really need a reg tester to do your tuning. You can back off on the hammer spring tension for lower velocity, but I'm not sure that will save air. My guess, that reg is set around 150 bar, and I expect you could achieve your desired velocity in the 125-130 range. But, that's just speculation on my part, worth what it cost!

BarneyFife, thanks for explaining that to me. For some reason I was thinking Impact MKII.

I'm getting around 900 fps with JSB 18.13 grs. from my Impact X and the reg is just barely at 110 BAR. The hammer spring even has less tension than the recommended 18.5 mm setting. Mine is around 20 mm. I get about 150 shots per fill.

.22's especially in the 16 grain category do not need a lot of push. You could probably drop your reg pressure down to 110 and lighten your hammer spring (if possible on the Wildcat MKII) to get a velocity of around 880 which may give you a higher shot count and maintain your 50 yard accuracy. Thanks, Good Luck!
