sparrows are all over my millet dove field. I just made up a make shift feeder with filled wild bird seed. They should find it pretty soon as all the other houses around the area have feeders.

It does look like a great location. However it seems like it would be a PITA to refill and install in the 1st place.

I would wait to take them clear of the feeder, you don’t want dead ones laying in the feed.

Line is not active.. I put up two old utility poles and stretched a wire cable between the two. ( ~90 yds) I used nylon string to keep it in place with a metal stake to hold the string.. One of the strings is just for stability and connects to the pole. It will be easy to fill the feeder. I'm going to put up another wooden feeder today.. Hopefully to have two locations to aim..

Perfect set up for the sparrows. I’m at war with them right now. They are trying to kill the baby swallows in the nesting boxes. They come mostly early morning and gang up on a box. I’m afraid they got one family because there’s flies around the box. Sparrows get into the box and peck the babies to death. I’ve explained to my neighbors about what’s happening so they don’t freak out when I kill a sparrow. Good job MarkT, I only have a few shooting lanes at the nesting boxes and the one they killed off is not in a safe shooting lane. Pop those little bastards!

I’m ready to thump those bstds. Nasty, ugly crop damaging little buggers. They are getting wise when they see my truck parked. I went this afternoon and only killed one. I may have to get a ground blind set up. It’s so dang hot here and that may be keeping them in the trees. I think the morning time is going to be better.

Nicely done! I got two and winged another a little while ago. I’m at 39 yards to the light pole. They are getting smarter here too. I notice that earlier they would be chirping and squabbling as they assaulted a nesting box, now they come in quietly and leave as soon as they see me.

Killed another 7 this morning. Only was able to pick 4 due to grass and fire ants covering the dead ones.

Chicken scratch makes a good feed for the pest sparrows , 50 LB bag at Tractor supply is about 10 bucks.
And they get a lot smarter, I been shooting them for 10 years,,,,
