New best distance to zero my Sidewinder .30 Cal.

All my other rifles are zeroed at 50 yards.

I notice with my Sidewinder that if zero it at 80 yards I would be within the vitals of whatever I shoot at with almost no compensation closer (aim low 1 inch at 22 yards and 1.5 inches at 50 yards) and up I.5 inch at 100.

That way using a simple scope with no multi reference reticle could give a faster insight and shoot for hunting purposes.

In few weeks gobblers will tell what they think about this new idea.

I think what distance to zero at is not a set in stone thing.
I prefer to zero mine at 35 yards. Thats closer than most of my shooting, but then I make reference to the numbers on my elevation turret for the distances where I have most of my targets set.
This works for me because I mostly shoot paper.

My varmint gun is zeroed at the distance from from my back door to just outside of chicken coupe where I am most likely to need it.

That's a good reference for hunting. I run a 40 yard zero on all of my air rifles so there's no holding under while hunting. Though it is a little closer than your zero distance, it is essentially flat within an inch from 10 yards out to 53 yards. Here's is a somewhat generic dope chart from Strelok Pro using a 50 grain slug with a BC of .115 and it shows about 2.61" of hold under at 47 yards, using your 80 yard zero.
