New and need a little help.

Recently got my first pcp. .22 origin. Before I shot it. I took it apart completely. Cleaned and oil it up. Shoot’s fantastic. 1 3/4 turns off the hammer spring with fx 15.89. A ragged whole at 50 yards and a 3 inch group at 100. Have about 700 shots through it. I’m good with that. It’s for hunting. I can’t see myself spending 1k for an airgun. Looking at AEA in .25. Something easier to carry in the woods. I’ve read that with the AEA you may have to do some work yourself and that’s not a problem. HP Varment? Hp Carbine? Need help please?

There’s guys much more knowledgeable than me on the AEA guns. I’ve had my 25cal hp varmint for about a month now, bought it used from the classifieds here.

The good
The gun looks and handles great. Nice and light, plenty of shots and reaches 70 fpe in stock form. Most guys claim very good accuracy.

Not so good
Trigger is awful but guys have improved it. The lockup on the folding stock has some play, I think this is common. Mine has an awful crown and won’t hold an inch at 30 yards with any ammo I’ve tried. Magazines aren’t the best. Don’t know if it’s still an issue but they were prone to breaking poppet stems.

For me the negatives don’t mean much. I’m going to tinker and play with anything I buy so I’ll just fix it, but for some these may be a deal breaker. Imo at the end of the day I’m buying the gun for its potential, and I believe this gun has a lot of potential for the cost.
Hope this helps.

Thank you. At the end of the day as long as it’s accurate I’m ok. It also doesn’t have to be a hole in hole accuracy wise. I was looking at the varment but can’t find anywhere that has them. Anything I get will be took apart and put back together. So I know what to look for if something goes wrong. With me being new to this there will be trial and errors. Now I’m not against a used one either. I know the varment fps is faster than the hp carbine. I’m also guessing the varment is more accurate at longer shots. Fpe matters very little. It will be a pig/ raccoon/ squirrel gun. Trying to way my odds on what would be the most efficient.

You’re welcome. Most guys claim very good accuracy, I think I just got a lemon.

I knew the varmint was long and it was still longer than expected, the folding stock makes it manageable though. I’d go with the carbine version if I was you. Mine will be used for the same purpose as yours and I chose the varmint because that’s what came up for sale. The varmint will be better for pigs with more power, I’d rather have the maneuverability of the carbine and make do with a little less power. I’ve killed pigs with less than what the carbines put out so I’m not worried about it.

I love used guns, this is the only gun I’ve gotten that wasn’t great the way I got it. Nothing wrong with the transaction, gun came as described.
