New air rifle for the new year, Yong Heng says no.

Had my eyes on a R5M or a Raptor. Had the cash, but just couldn’t choose one. Last night my beloved Yong Heng started making scary noises about 10 minutes into filling my tank. I was standing right next to it when it happened. Panic set in.

Fix it if.possable? Just buy a new one? Buy a better compressor? Last day for the sale on the Edguns....

Did a little research and decided to get an Omega Air Charger, currently on sale too. I like the fact hat it doesn’t have oil in a crankcase. Always had a little oil blow by with the Yong Heng. Filters kept it out of my guns, but still something I wanted to avoid. A couple video reviews sealed the deal. Thanks to SG and others for the reviews.

Since I had some cash left over, I figured I’d get a couple other things to play with. FX Cronograph and some hot rod parts for my Gauntlet. I want to see if it will shoot the Hybrid slugs. It is currently shooting Crosman 14.3 domes at 830-840 and quite accurately.

I think you'll like that Omega Air Charger … when my Super Charger gives up the ghost that is what I intend to replace it with. No need to ever put any oil in it. Just keep grease in it and the water level about a quarter inch below the recycling hole. They will send you everything you need with the Air Charger … even the grease. That grease they send you comes in a syringe and there is probably enough grease in it to last you 5 years or more. I've only added grease to my Super Charger once in the past 2 years and didn't really need it then.

Took it A part tonight. High-pressure piston is brass. It has grooves cut in it where the seals go. The brass on the top and below the top seal gave away. High-pressure piston is shot, but it looks like the cylinder is in good condition. Not sure how the half dozen chunks of brass didn’t score anything. I was kind of hoping it was just a seal failure but no such luck. It may have had more than 10 hours on it.

I ordered my omega from Airgun pro shop. Cheap price on shipping through them.
