Yup, gonna have to get a Virtus when they come out!

As for my MPX, I haven't tried it yet Nate, but another member on here recommended I take a shim out of the regulator on the Air Venturi bottle in hopes of getting the regulated air pressure closer to 850 psi instead of the 1100 psi that it is rated at. He thinks it will work much better that way as the valve spring in the gun is a little overloaded with the 1100 psi.

Here's the Hard Air Link on the Virtus

I didn't have much luck with Chinese regulators at at 800psi, so maybe around 900psi would work better.

I have no way of checking the regulator pressure. Was just gonna take a shim out and see if my velocity crept up a bit?

When I was using the Co2 it was shooting the 8.4 gr JSB's close to 400 fps. When I converted to the 1100 psi Air Venturi bottle the velocity dropped to around 350 fps? So if I take a shim out and the pellet velocity increases, I'll know I'm working in the right direction. But you're right 900 psi could be the magic number?

Nate, yes you have to let all the air out of your bottle and take the regulator off.

I can't find a video as related to our Air Venturi tanks, but this video on the Ninja Reg is pretty thorough. Around the 8:00 mark he starts talking about the shims and taking one out on his particular regulator to reduce from an 800 psi output to a 700 psi output.

I'm pretty sure our air venturi set up works the same way, but we're gonna be reducing 1100 psi to what ever one shim will reduce it too. I'm just gonna take one out to start with, and try it that way. Then maybe take another out later?

I've got a new to me Wolverine B that I've been trying to warm up too and find the pellet it likes. This is the first ever high dollar airgun I've found that likes the cheap Crosman Premiers from Wally World? So, I've been busy with it lately and haven't touched the Sig.

I'll edit in another video if I find something better.

Let me know how it goes!

Nate, scratch that idea. It didn't work for me. It only has 3 silver shims. I took 2 of them out and tried it. Misfires like crazy and velocity down closer to 200 fps when it would fire?

Put a one shim back in and still misfiring with velocity up around 250-270.

Put the third shim back in and functioning normal with velocity around 300 fps and above.

It was closer to 400 fps with the Co2 cylinder. Can't explain it?

Maybe I need to try adding a 4th shim, but I don't have any?

I was using JSB 8.4 gr pellets for this test.

Another thing, my Sig is leaking air already. I noticed it was almost empty when I first grabbed it tonight? After the shim change out/replace and a quick shooting session when I got through, I came back inside and could hear the air escaping if I put my ear up to where the magazine goes in. So now, I just unscrew the bottle when not in use to save what pressure is in the bottle?

I might have to sit back and let other folks experiment with the Virtus after this? Make sure they don't have leaks?

An AV tank is a Ninja tank.

You do need a reg checker and there is a nice post on the forum on how to build the lowest cost unit.

Sounds like ( thinking you havent developed some other non reg issue ) you psi is low? The "1,100psi" "AV" tanks are known to come form 850-1,000ish psi , possibly an odd one much further out.

IF really wantimg 850psi the coil spring set up ( and you can use it in ether style reg) seems VERY stable and simple. The stacked washer is superior at higher psi as well as offering finer tuning of psi.

I did not re watch this video but am thinking it show both styles , it does have a washer stack diagram or two.

If you were over pressurized ( but it should be designed for 90+ degree Co2 temps) how hard is it to install a heavier hammer spring?
