For those of you interested in shooting slugs out of your .25 caliber air gun, I just got a new batch of slugs to test from one of the top manufacturers a couple days ago. What has got me excited is that I was given 10 different slugs to test ranging in weight from about 28 gr. up to about 38gr. with quite a few in the 28gr-34gr. range which will be perfect for gun’s that do not have power kits or special tunes. All of the slugs have either a flat or dished base and a pretty large hollow point which are both traits I’ve found shoot very well out of the Impact and RAW.
Because the weights or design of the slugs may change a little after this initial testing, I’m not allowed to mention the exact specifics. I can tell you that I shot a few last night to check velocities and in my gun the slugs in the 28gr.-31gr. range were able to be shot at over 1000fps. They shot most accurately at about 940-950fps out to 100yds. My gun is stock other than a delrin C3 bumper, a larger transfer port and modified probe. These velocities 940-960fps should easily be achievable out of stock Impact MKII’s, maybe Continuums and Crowns too?
Im going to test all of them tomorrow out to 100+ yds. and will share the results with the maker, then I can share them with you. If they all shoot as well as the other slugs he makes, it’s going to be great for .25 cal. owners!
