New 2019 .22 cal Benjamin Marauder regulated with LW barrel

Does anyone have any thoughts on the new 2019 .22 regulated Benjamin Marauder rifle with the LW barrel? Does anyone know how this mode differs from the field and target model? And I’m just curious, if it was your decision to purchase a Marauder rifle, and nothing else, would you buy this new regulated model or and unregulated model? Primary uses would be informal backyard target shooting (< 20 yards) plinking and general airgun mayhem with maybe some occasional pest control and possible small game hunting in the future.

For just a little more you can get the FX Dreamline. The quality and accuracy are way better. Personally, once I used a side cocking gun I probably will not get another bolt action.

The dream line is definitely interesting but the FX Crown is the one I’m most interested in for myself. This purchase is not for me.

I own a .22 and .25 Marauder. Fresh from the factory they grouped about 2" at 50 yards no matter the pellet choice. I spent $150 each for LW barrels, now shoot 1/2" at 50 yards. Well worth the cost for me.

Supposedly Crosman makes better barrels now, but it is a crapshoot.

BadgerBob, did the LW barrel replace the Green Mountain barrel on your gen2 Marauder? I’m only assuming you own gen2’s? If so, it really made that much of a difference? Again, going on the assumption it is a gen2, did you buy the LW from Crosman?

If I was going to buy one, it would be WITHOUT thier regulator and install a good aftermarket regulator. The LW barrel and picatinny breech are cool.

Anyone know if Crosman is selling the LW barrels separately?

Don’t know if anyone on this tread knows this, but you could get a breech with a picatinny rail on it just like the factory from Tim Hill at hillairguns.com. You can get one for a 25 cal, too.

I was thinking along the same lines as you, but if you go to their custom shop, and do the build your own feature, you will see that the regulated Marauder comes with a longer pressure pipe, and the manometer gage hole is I believe pushed further forward. What this means is, if you were ever going to say, swap stocks from a wood to a synthetic you found on the classifieds and you had this regulated one from Crosman, it won’t work. You’ll have to buy a synthetic in black or the three camo choices they offer, and make sure it’s for the regulated version of the gun.

Thats the one thing I wish I had on my 2017 Synrod with aftermarket reg, was a longer pressure pipe, to make up for the space taken away by the regulator.

Check out AEAC for a review. I think Steve had the regulated Marauder a few months ago. The new barrel process is good, so the gun was pretty accurate. Real hangup is that it's regulated on the lower end of the scale, around 20ish FPE. That means you get lots of low powered shots. You need to decide if that will fit your needs. It's not adjustable.

For $200 more, get a Dreamline. UAG just released a video of it shooting at 100 yards in the wind. I have an Impact, but now, really want a Dreamline. Accuracy is WOW!

If you do decide on the Crosman, remember that ANG members get a 25% discount on most items from Crosman. When you check out, look for a box for a code, AGNATION is the code.

Good luck

Would be an outstanding choice in your application. Naturally LW being the airgun barrel standard that would be a worthwhile option. Outstanding trigger, best reliablilty and warranty in the airgun industry , they copied the pellet clip which now is a standard from the best.

And those compairing " just a few dollar more airguns" ( none I would recommend tho ) need to keep price in mind.

For a mere $679.99 at PA there is really nothing that can even come close.

Guys, I truly get you with your FX’s, RAW’s, Daystates, AirArms, Brocock’s, and your Edguns and all the like. I absolutely enjoy reading and listening to you all talk about those guns. No question they are amazing air guns. I am however, for better or worse, truly a Crosmaniac. To… the... bone…. Judge me for it if you like, call me a “fan boy” if you want, but I will unwavering stand my ground. My first two air guns where Crosman’s so they are near and dear to my heart and I have always been a supporter of my “home team”.

OK. So maybe my question wasn't worded correctly. This wasn’t going to be my purchase. One of my employees asked me about air guns awhile back because he knew I had some. Not that I know a whole lot myself, but he knows little to nothing about air guns but isn’t new to shooting and hunting. I have nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but I reluctantly, and maybe regrettably agreed to show him a few things from my humble little collection, including my Prod that I just got about 6 weeks ago. Which is MY top of the line air gun in my unassuming little collection of air guns. Like I said, I have nothing fancy (yet). Of course, the one he had the most interest in was the Prod. He also has a pretty limited budget and he seems to have a lot of (way too many really) other hobbies and interests. I warned him not to dive too deep and invest too much into something he might not stick with and honestly, I don’t see this new interest of his lasting very long based on past experiences. He really needs to get other things straightened out in his life before investing in air guns but he’s determined to get into the sport right now. And I’ll be damned if I tell him that air guns like FX’s and Daystates even exist. If he finds out about them on his own, which is very likely, that’ll be on him because it will likely financially ruin him because I know he’ll try and go there and go way too far too fast with it. If he doesn't get distracted by another squirrel in the mean time, it’s likely to happen anyhow, but I don’t what it to be me that he blames for suggesting he go top end right out the gate. Anyhow, I suggested he look into Crosman to start with. Remember, I’m a home team supporter. Nothing wrong with Gamo or Umerex or the like. They have their fan clubs also. But I know Crosman better, so I steered him in that direction. Anyways, of course he goes straight to the top of their offerings and he came back to me the other day all excited and asked me what’s “NEW” about this 2019 Marauder? I didn’t know so I put the question out there for him. I was curious also anyways.

To get back on point, it seems the general consensus from everyone here is the "NEW" 2019 Marauder isn't really anything "NEW!" with maybe exception to the “NEW” slightly redesigned stock. On the website under the details for the gun it also said “NEW” in front of regulator and I was curious (hoping actually) if that meant they had a "NEW" regulator that they were installing in the Marauder and I was curious if anyone might know what’s "NEW" about it. I know sometimes Crosman's definition of "NEW" is a bite different than mine but when they put “NEW” in front of regulator in the details it got my attention and interest. Again, I route for my home team. Maybe all it means is that it's just “NEW” in that the regulated gun is now available outside of the custom shop? I don’t know. I was just hoping that this wasn’t a marketing ploy and maybe this was finally Crosman’s step in the direction of upping their game a bite.
