Guys, I truly get you with your FX’s, RAW’s, Daystates, AirArms, Brocock’s, and your Edguns and all the like. I absolutely enjoy reading and listening to you all talk about those guns. No question they are amazing air guns. I am however, for better or worse, truly a Crosmaniac. To… the... bone…. Judge me for it if you like, call me a “fan boy” if you want, but I will unwavering stand my ground. My first two air guns where Crosman’s so they are near and dear to my heart and I have always been a supporter of my “home team”.
OK. So maybe my question wasn't worded correctly. This wasn’t going to be my purchase. One of my employees asked me about air guns awhile back because he knew I had some. Not that I know a whole lot myself, but he knows little to nothing about air guns but isn’t new to shooting and hunting. I have nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but I reluctantly, and maybe regrettably agreed to show him a few things from my humble little collection, including my Prod that I just got about 6 weeks ago. Which is MY top of the line air gun in my unassuming little collection of air guns. Like I said, I have nothing fancy (yet). Of course, the one he had the most interest in was the Prod. He also has a pretty limited budget and he seems to have a lot of (way too many really) other hobbies and interests. I warned him not to dive too deep and invest too much into something he might not stick with and honestly, I don’t see this new interest of his lasting very long based on past experiences. He really needs to get other things straightened out in his life before investing in air guns but he’s determined to get into the sport right now. And I’ll be damned if I tell him that air guns like FX’s and Daystates even exist. If he finds out about them on his own, which is very likely, that’ll be on him because it will likely financially ruin him because I know he’ll try and go there and go way too far too fast with it. If he doesn't get distracted by another squirrel in the mean time, it’s likely to happen anyhow, but I don’t what it to be me that he blames for suggesting he go top end right out the gate. Anyhow, I suggested he look into Crosman to start with. Remember, I’m a home team supporter. Nothing wrong with Gamo or Umerex or the like. They have their fan clubs also. But I know Crosman better, so I steered him in that direction. Anyways, of course he goes straight to the top of their offerings and he came back to me the other day all excited and asked me what’s “NEW” about this 2019 Marauder? I didn’t know so I put the question out there for him. I was curious also anyways.
To get back on point, it seems the general consensus from everyone here is the "NEW" 2019 Marauder isn't really anything "NEW!" with maybe exception to the “NEW” slightly redesigned stock. On the website under the details for the gun it also said “NEW” in front of regulator and I was curious (hoping actually) if that meant they had a "NEW" regulator that they were installing in the Marauder and I was curious if anyone might know what’s "NEW" about it. I know sometimes Crosman's definition of "NEW" is a bite different than mine but when they put “NEW” in front of regulator in the details it got my attention and interest. Again, I route for my home team. Maybe all it means is that it's just “NEW” in that the regulated gun is now available outside of the custom shop? I don’t know. I was just hoping that this wasn’t a marketing ploy and maybe this was finally Crosman’s step in the direction of upping their game a bite.
