Had to go into town and that means, I have to pass AGS. Once I held the pro sport I was like superman and I burned my initials in the barrel. Had to take one home in

.177. I had a hawk 3 x 9 x 40 waiting. Attached it

. Five shots on both sides 25 yds. Accurate for out of the box.

 35 yards 10° incline. Crony acted up. 

I was concerned about loading this gun with the smaller pellets, and slammed it for years. I didn’t find it that bad at all. Not as easy as the HW 97 but tolerable. This rifle will be a nice addition to the family.

And again I have to thank forum members for swaying me into the 177 Springer. A year ago I had a 34 in .177 which collects dust. Never thought I would buy another. Since Dec. I’ve added a few . 177‘s and I really enjoy them. Crow

That's a beautiful stock.

Pardon my ignorance, but what type of gun is that? The loading port makes me think underlever, but I only see the barrel, like a breakbarrel.

An easier way to cock a Pro Sport. If you're right handed you probably put the butt on your right hip and pull with your left hand.

Put the butt on your LEFT hip and pull with your left hand. Easier!

Feels more natural. It just does. Try it. It works with all underlevers.

Follows up on the BSA Airsporter released in 1948. Air Arms added the sliding breech and the trigger BSA springers always needed and never had.

Where did the sliding breech and trigger come from?

...everybody copies everybody: the Falke is a copy of the Airsporter, the Air Arms a copy of the HW77...when you first start to use the Pro Sport make sure you cock the lever all the way down, until you hear a little click/ if not the lever may not return all the way into the stock, gun not fire...don't ask how I know this!....

I have a BSA Polaris. An underlever with an odd breach 

 You slide the pellet down chute..

 Bit of a nuisance but once you get onto it it’s not so bad.

Once cocked the breach has to be opened and closed manually.

Very true - few really new ideas in springer design!

The HW 77 of course "borrowed" the telescoping breech idea from earlier match rifles, the first one being the Anschutz 220 introduced in 1959. And I believe there were some some other lesser-known small manufacturers before that who may have "inspired" Anschutz, LOL...

In my opinion Air Arms blew it in the breach, probably copyright situation (LGU same breach) same problem. If the arms reach opened the same as the 77 it would no doubt be a favourite go to of mine.

An absolute gorgeous gun. Love the wood but in my opinion engraving is over done. Eliminate the flowers (lilies) too much. My TX200 has same. I’d rather have graffiti‘s than flowers. Crow

Congrats. My .177 pro sport is tuned to shoot at about 12fpe and is one of my most accurate guns. An absolutely beautiful design.

The BSA RB2 rotary breech. Used on later Airsporters, Goldstar, and the Gamo CFX. I find them very easy to use. The Polaris is a good gun. Very accurate and on the lighter side for an underlever design. A great field gun. If I was still gun crazy I would try to buy it from you. I always wanted to add one to my collection.

Crow, that is a beautiful rifle. I was wondering for a right handed shooter wouldn't it make more sense to have the loading port on the left side of the rifle instead of the right? In other words a left handed action in a right handed stock might work better.

I've never shot an underlever so I'm just guessing.

KWK the BSA Lightning SE is the one I would crawl over glass on my hands and knees for one. Unfortunately, I believe they are illegal here. Crow

Beautiful rifle Crow. And she’s shooting great out the box. When I grab my .177 TX it takes about 5 shots to get used to the loading procedure, after that it just flows smoothly.
