A couple of my neighbors have had a ground hog setting up residence along the river bank. They knew I had the air rifle and asked that I evict him.
I am to the point in life that I normally just shoot what I eat, but this critter needed action.
I recently traded for a Vulcan 3 .25 cal with Huma reg. Last week I got a heavier hammer spring from Talon Tunes, and some 33.95 gr FX pellets. I cranked up the reg to 160, and I am getting 900 fps for 65 foot pounds, with 44 still retained at 65 yards, where I had seen the critter, and zeroed last week.
Well he showed up again and I was able to sneak out and open the shop window 65 yards away, with a good rest on the work bench.
One shot and it was lights out. I put three more in him for insurance, since they are such tough critters.
