Need input on first pcp!

Not new to airguns or burners. Never had a pcp. I’ve exhausted myself over the last year or longer researching them. I’ll give u my short list, then a brief explanation about it. Hopefully y’all can help me out.

FX Warcat (.25)

FX Impact .30

RAW hm1000xlrt .25 or .30

WAR Flex .25 or .30

AAA EVOL .30

Eventually I’ll likely get a raw 357 for larger game. For now I need something large enough for long range plinking and hunting, as well as potentially close range hogs, predators, squirrels, and pesting. I thought I had exhausted most of what I could learn online and had mostly settled on the Warcat. I’ve since seen some troubling reports of qc issues...enough to put me into research mode again. This led me to the others (RAW, WAR, AAA). Unfortunately RAWs website sucks. AEAC has a good review on the 60lb .25 and the 357. But I can’t find a comprehensive review of the 30. Nor can I find good reviews on the rest. I really need a chart of the different variations of each with the numbers crunched on speed, ft lbs, pellet weights etc like u find everywhere for FX and most other manufacturers. I’m currently leaning towards either FX or either RAW. But I’ve heard the raws can come with different calibers, different barrels, different twist rates, and different power settings. But they don’t tell u the different power settings or anything on their site (or anywhere else I’ve found) that are available. Input on my list please, and if there’s any I’ve left out let me know! Again, I’ll eventually have two pcps perhaps 3, but for now I want a general purpose everything gun that drives tacks at 100 and is dependable. Good customer service. Not too expensive to shoot (air and ammo-wise) to be afraid to shoot cans all day if I want, so nothing over 30 for now.

I really like the idea of having a bullpup for hunting. That’s why the wildcat and impact are on here instead of the crown. I just hate to spend that much money and not be happy with it. So many people are complaining about them that it makes me hesitate. I also find it hard to believe that they’re as bad as people claim. More often people gripe when they’re pissed off instead of praising when they’re happy. I get that. That’s why I’m here...

Behold the handiwork of my FX Impact .25 cal pushing JSB 25.4 gr @52fpe:

The shot was made from a distance slightly over 30 yards.

No. My regulator came set too high but after a few minutes tuning it was perfect. There's nothing complicated about it for me. I plan to make any repairs or do any service myself.

The gun also shoots Nielsen 47gr hollowpoints pretty good and to the same point of impact as the 50g jsb but I can't get over 890 fps so far with the regulator set to 140 bar. I get 900 fps with the 50g jsb, regulator set to 155 bar.

Nice trash panda there. Wildcat too I see. How u feel about it?"

The Wildcat (Mk1) is nearly flawless. This bullpup is lightweight, accurate and powerful in the .25cal seen in the photo. The rifle has a simple and easy to load rotary magazine. If I was pressed to state a negative, I would point to the lever action, which is not quite as smooth as that on the Royale and Impact.

The Wildcat was my go-to gun before I purchased my Vulcan .22 cal. Even then, the Wildcat .25 cal was selected for squirrels and doves at 40 yards and beyond after seeing more than 1 dove get up and fly off after being knocked to the ground with the .22 cal.

The Wildcat is definitely a keeper.

The war being more of a boutique rifle it's a personal call.

You mention reliability somewhat, " troubling reports of qc issues " with the warcat , those few posts and you would still consider an Impact? So looks actually is playing to you more than reliability it seems.

Want 100% dependable and w/out QC issues grab the RAW. Want the latest greatest pick what you like post em on a board & throw a dart.

Which model's have you already fired? Or models closet to?

Well DR.OCEANS. I have 4 of the 7 you mentioned. Really have to have some privacy most of your choice s. Ill speak of the 4 i have..my W C 1 IS A PERFECT HUNTER PLINKER NICE ALL AROUND B P ..the Impact is so versatile with all the add on and the accuracy cant be beat. So fun to shoot ..now on the RAWS i have a 30 and 25 cal with a 22 hi powerand AND A 357 CAL ordered ALL. HM1000X LRT STOCKS IM IN THE PROCESS OF JOINING A SHOOTING CLUB..THE.RAWS ARE TO LOUD AND POWERFUL FOR MY SET UP..BUT THE ARE AWESOME LOOKING AND PERFORMANCE IS EXCELLENT. SMH77 IS SOMEBODY YOU SHOULD PM HE SWAPS HIS RAW 25 AND 30 CAL BACK AND FORTH AND HAS WR[TTEN AWESOME REPORTS COVERING ALL ABOUT IT GOOD LUCK PAT. PM ME IF I CAN HELP

The only one on your list with which I have experience is the RAW. I have two HM1000 rifles in .177 and .22. They have been 100 percent dependable and offer truly precision accuracy. I had mine built with large moderators, and they are very quiet. Even though designated as a hunting model, I think most folks would find it a little cumbersome for carry. If I'm going to tote a rifle through the woods, I would carry either my Daystate Regal or Steyr Challenge Hunting.

MY 2 cents , While all guns mentioned some are complicated pcp guns for a first gun , Id go with a 25 cal max for first pcp or even a .22 ,

WHY not get a simple gun that shoots well , Ed gun , Taipan , or Wildcat would be my choices easy to work on compact light to carry ,While RAW s great its heavy , With a scope its a bit to heavy to carry threw the woods , where as ones I mentioned are hunters and compct and much easier to change an oring or service ,My first pcp was .22 caliber

Nah. I actually prefer the looks of the RAWs. What I like about the Warcat n impact are accuracy and size and the wealth of information out there. Figure there’s likely more gripes about fx simply because there are more fx out there. But not completely sure on that, so here I am. Haven’t shot any of them. This is also a problem. If I had a buddy with a safe full of airguns or a store nearby that sells em I’d be set. Only pcp I’ve ever shot was a marauder. It was amazing compared to any other pellet gun I’ve used, but not a 100 yd gun as many others apparently are.
