Hello,
first of all im new to this forum and to airgun hunting so please excuse me if I make some mistakes.
I got a little question, I wanna get a PCP Pistol soon and im not sure about what caliber to get yet so I hope you guys can help me there a little bit. I'm thinking to get the Webly Alecto/ Zoraki HP 01 Ultra. Two calibers are avilivle .177 and .22 caliber. It should serve for two diffrent purposes first is some target shooting/plinking and second I wanna hunt a little bit with it. Actually im only thinking of Crows and maybe Pigeons. I dont know if this is realistic with a Pistol but I was thinking about shooting at a max. Distance of 35 yards. In .177 caliber it can reach about 10 ft.lb and in .22 its about 11-12 ft.lb of energy. Basicly I think I can forget taking Headshots at such birds with an Airpistol. So ill go for chest shots to get a human kill. I guess ill get some sort of optic on it with iron sights a good hit will be very hard at such distances I think. Now the Question is what caliber to get ill shot at unknown ranges from maybe 10-35 yards .177 will clearly have less drop than .22 but .22 will deliver more raw energy in the target. Im thinking to get the .22 one but I dont know if it is possible to compensate the dropoff of the .22 with lets say a reddot. What do you guys think is best to get the job done?
