Need help figuring out a problem.

Good afternoon fellow airgunners.

Its my first time here and Im kinda ashamed of asking for help, but I bought my first pcp with a pump so I dont know much yet aboit troubleshooting.

The gun its a spa m22 (artemis brand) and the pump its also by that brand.

The problem its everytime I charge the pcp after pumping for a while stop and bleed the air out of the pump when I remove the foster plug of the pcp air intake theres a loud air explosion, like theres air stuck in where the foster its plugged.

Well its not a explosion big enough to hurt me, but maybe its hurting the gun, the thing its really breaking are the orings of the foster plug, everytime I get that explosion a oring gets broken.

It would be great if someone can help. I would be very happy.

Well thanks and sorry about my third rate english.

Do you have a test plug for the end of the hand pump fill line? If so, plug the fill line and pump the hand pump up to your guns operating pressure. Next, bleed off the air in the pump. Then VERY CAREFULLY try to remove the test plug. If the plug does not readily come out or there is a "whoosh" of air that means that the air is not purging completly from the pump. You might have to disassemble the pump to find out if something is blocking the vent hole. Make sure that all pressure is released from the pump before doing any work on it (remove test plug or unscrew fill line from pump base - again be VERY CAREFUL).

I think the problem could be a check valve at the air outlet of the pump when you stop pumping the pump is becoming pressurized by the air in the gun . Air should not be able to flow from the gun back into pump. In making this statement I’m making a guess on how your pump works I am not familiar with the brand you have so what I’m saying is essentially a possibility not a sure thing. be careful with HP air safety is your first responsibility.

Remove the cheap foster fitting, pull the check valve, polish it a little and put a drop of silicon oil on it or rub a little silicone grease on it and reassemble to stop your air leak.

Cheap foster fittings don't have a spring loaded check valve and this causes them to stick sometimes. The cheap check valve will look like a slotted machine screw with no threads.

Rayha, can you remove the foster fitting and thread the fill probe directly onto the fill line? Make sure that they are the same thread - don't force them together. If it fills properly set up this way then you know that it is the foster fitting.

The first time I disassembled my hand pump I did not know that it had tiny glass beads inside the base of the pump. These glass beads were there for moisture to collect on. I had a heck of a time collecting them after spilling them on the floor. Just a heads up in case yours has the beads also.

My gauntlet was doing this randomly and I can only assume the line bleeder wasn't letting the pressure out fast enough for the unsprung check valve to close. If I released the female foster it would pop and blow the o-ring out of it then the male would seal. After cleaning up the inferior Chinese check valve my problem was solved.

The pressure can't come from the pump side so I would assume the male foster is repressurizing the line. I can't think of another source.

Sorry about the late reply to everyone trying to help me. Jwrabbit123 understood my situation I would try the fixes provided by rodeo and heavy-impact cause im almost sure the problem lies in the foster check valve or near it. Bluecup yeah It would be better to leave this problem to a pro, but there its no authorized shop in my country. So the options are fix it or buy a new pump and pray the problem wasnt in other place.
