Need help deciding on my first air rifle....

I've got three rifles in mind.

Seneca double shot, , Benjamin 357 Bull-pup, annd the Umarex hammer.

I can only buy one,

Hunting and home defense, rifle slugs important

Deer hunting, turkey, some small game.

I am leaning towards the Seneca double shot, how good is it for a slug gun?

All PCP guns will leak their pressure tank, sometime. AIRguns are not a safe or practical tool for any defence situation. +1 to the above.

Try reading the hunting forum and the big bore forum. Every gun under the sun has been discussed and you will find that you accidentally learn a lot more than you thought you would.

Air gun for home defense is a very, very bad idea.

If you have that kind of budget, go get a remington 870 or something like that. Can hunt with slugs too.

I have an HDR 50 with pepper balls for rapid response.

Agreed, not for self defense. Unless you can shoot out a small birds "eye" at 50ft, 100 times out of 100 forget it. You know where I was going with that...right ?

As for hunting, can't help you there.

Sounds like your pepper ball gun is your best choice. Again, eyeball = bulls eye.

I use a 357 Benjamin bulldog with Nosler slugs for deer hunting dropped a buck at 55yrds I am sure it would drop a human at 25yrds
