Need advice on a scope

I need a new scope and needed some advice I am looking at a nightforce HSV or a vortex price point is about $950.00 on both or any other I have Hawk scopes looking for something a little different I target shoot and hunt both. Thanks

I own both. All things not described below I find equal; clarity, quality, matching turrets & subtensions, etc. Here's where I'd give each the edge: 

SHV

• More forgiving eye box
• Claimed to be more durable (haven't tested this myself)
• Easier to use for long periods of time (could be clarity, light transmission, or forgiving eye-box?)

Viper PST 2

• "Zero-stop" turret feature standard & works very well
• Better illumination of reticle 
• Open crosshairs in reticle (personal preference)
• No questions warranty

Reticles of both brands follow the same suit with rather busy MIL reticles & less busy MOA reticles.

Thanks Michael it does help I am getting in the upper class scopes for me I only had like 300 to 400 range but know I want better glass so $1000 range am looking for thanks. John

The upper range of the athlon line(past ares) have been a nice bang for your buck. 3000$ features for the 1000$ zone. I believe once you go ares and beyond, they start being made in Japan instead of China. This is where it is at !



Then if you want this scope to be the very best, look at buying a 34mm scope instead of 30mm.
