Need a rifle for FT in 0.177

I'm stuck trying to find a rifle for Field Target in US. To put this in perspective: I have an FX Boss (0.30), Daystate Air Wolf (0.22) and a Daystate Huntsman Regal (0.22).

The Air Wolf could possibly be used because I can set power to 12 and 20 ft/lbs, but its not ideal because it lacks ability to adjust stock, add a hamster etc; also I'd like to prefer a 0.177. I'm happy not to be stuck in WFTF, so 20 ft/lbs is OK (but probably the gun should be tuned to lower power).

I'd really like to not shell out $$$ for a Thomas or Steyr. Daystate Ataman is a possibility, but its fixed at 12 ft/lbs and is also pretty $$, and has no track record. The FX stream line at 1st seemed attractive, but is probably a poor choice for 0.177, given issues with ST barrel at low velocity? Other contenders are Benjamin Marauder, which would probably need a moderator, or RAW (but I'm concerned about weight). What am I missing, and what do FT experts suggest?

Hi Scott,

At present I'm not interested in WFTF due to 12 ft/lbs limit (but maybe I should be more open). I've had some input off board via pm, but it seems there's not much interest/action for FT on AGN.

Its hard to find a rifle with an adjustable stock that's not super expensive, so RAW might be best option? But then still have to shell out for hamster, etc. I'm new to this, in my 60s, and not sure I want to go into Steyr/Thomas territory.

Any input appreciated.

As between a RAW and Steyr in .177, you really can't go wrong with either choice. I've had a Steyr and a RAW TM1000, they were both equally accurate, just different. The LG110 came from the LG100 which is a 10m match rifle and it's a different shooting experience than a TM1000 due to the design of the gun. I suggest you consider putting a WTB ad on the yellow ft forum and deal with an established member and save a good bit of money from new and maybe get some accessories thrown in like a knee riser.

I have lucked into a reasonably priced LG110 and a AA EV2 iii by watching the various classifieds around the net. The AA s200 is extremely accurate, although the ergonomics are a little strange. Any of these specialty rifles take a big depreciation hit on the first resale, but maintain their value after that. Buying used makes a lot of sense.
Although I don't shoot FT, I think the quality and versatility of the Steyr would be your best bet. Check out http://www.shooting-the-breeze.com/forums/ for lots of info on FT.

Another choice would be an FX 400 in 177. Brian(Bvan) here on AGN came in 3rd at the 2016 nationals with a FX 400 in 177 in the class your looking into. Pretty sure his FX was shooting around 18 fpe. The 2 guns that beat him were both Thomas's that cost more than double.

Some RAW's in the Open class but many more Steyr's at this years Nationals. Pretty sure its because of the weight difference.

For under a $1000 a BSA r10 in 177 is another choice. Cricket rifle if you can find one in 177 would be another gun that can be purchased for around a $1000 used.
