Nearsighted Diopter

Apparently by adjusting the parallax, a near sighted person can get a clear sight picture without using their glasses. I tried this & found just that. But I couldn't get the diopter to focus the reticle at all. I have pretty bad vision, I believe -7. Looking at a few scopes that do show diopter adjustment specs I see at most -2.

Are there any optics where I could adjust the diopter enough to to make it focus? Probably not.

As a side note I recently picked up a sightron FT 10-50x60. I don't shoot field target though. Overill? mainly bench and sometimes pesting.

High quality glass on your airgun should never be considered overkill.

With that said , normally you would start off adjusting the diopter to your eye(s) by looking at the sky or a bright white wall, quickly and repeatedly, all the while turning the diopter to get the reticle in focus. Doing these quick views through the scope prevents your eye from adjusting/compensating to the out of focus reticle.
After this process you would normally adjust the parallax to bring your target into focus.

had the same issue with a Bug Buster. Saw a hack that another member posted here that took 15 minutes and cost $1.25. Worked perfectly. Get a pair of 3.25 magnification reading glasses from Dollar Store. Remove a lense and grind or sand to size for the optical housing. Put it into the rubber piece that fits around the eye piece. Doesn't need to be against the scope lense. You may be able to find the post with a bit of effort, but it's quite straightforward and ez. Hope this helps. Bill and Addi.
