I don’t think there was no news but it was no news reported as the reporters are on various manufacturers payroll. I know Edgun was showing the new R5m plus a new telescope sight and a new compact rifle the Lelia.
its a shame that inorder to make a living the people who report the news to us have to be looked at with a grain of salt as they can’t afford to insult their employers.

AEAC was on a sponsored co-op trip to IWA.

I was hoping that Brian over @ EDgunWest would give us a report on Edgun.

Anyone who has any news about IWA is encouraged to share their findings here.

"intenseaty22"Yeah, I knew about Ed’s new stuff as it has trickled here and there, but otherwise nothing. Except for Air Gandhi, and he had not added subtitles yet.
I was curious about Ed’s new scope, any dirt on that?
I was going to make a similar post. Very disappointed that not every manufacturer gets a fair representation on this site. Especially someone like EDgun who started the bullpup revolution.
I had to do some more digging online and found this link below with pictures from IWA 2018 from a Czech Field Target website. It has pictures of the Taipan in a new stock, various Kalibrgun offerings, Steyr, Vulca, and of course stuff from EDgun.
I'll wait for Brian at edgunwest to give us a rundown of the new Stalker 6x scope - he said Ed told him it's so clear it looks like a 10x scope - we'll see. I believe it's a 6x32 scope made by Dedal for EDgun. No idea on pricing yet from Brian but he said he'll be carrying it on his website.

Just use Google translate to get an idea of what they're talking about in each picture.

The Russian EDguns are great! I just don't believe they market their products in the same way. Or, either maybe it is just politics getting in the way of air-gunning? Lets face it, nobody wants to be called to testify to the US senate over their airgun purchase. Geopolitical politics really needs to stay out of air-gunning. After all, let us not forget it was Ted and his Russia-made Matador that got this whole craze going in the first place.

I know Sniperqty is banned just about every forum across the board. But this video he did with Ed did my soul good. I don't think he's really that bad of a guy, of course I always take up for the underdog? I think a lot of his issues come by the way his Arabic is translated to us? We can always come off harsh in text where folks can't hear our tongue in cheek tone of our voice on camera?

Ted better not run for US President with his "close" Russian ties!

I once bought a Russian nesting doll....now waiting for the Alphabet org to show up on my doorsteps... My neighbor is called Russ....he says he is being called in by the special counsel for an "interview" for being a Red..

"intenseaty22"So IWA came and went and we saw the usual offenders: Brocock, FX, Daystate, etc. What about the Eastern Block? Ed Gun, Kalibrgun, Taipan, etc? Nothing to report from them? Nothing new?
No love for the Russians?

Thanks for the good question. It deserves transparency.

AEAC is and always has been open to anyone that wants to help support our efforts. Who wants to get behind us or not isn't up to me but for the 9 companies who did help me get to IWA (evanix, diana, umarex, fx, hatsan, air arms, daystate, h&n sport, jsb), they got video coverage. It wouldn't have been fair to them if I also covered those organizations that didn't participate... I hope you understand.

Bottom line, my door is open to the entire industry and they all know this. If in the future more do want to participate in SHOT & IWA coverage, I'm down. The more the merrier.

On a side note, I did try to include most everyone else here;

For full transparency, here's the group currently backing AEAC financially;

@AEAC (Steve)

Just to clarify, I was not directing this question to anyone in particular. AEAC does a great job doing what you do, but certainly not the only “reporter” in the industry. As such, I was hoping to see what the other manufacturers brought to the table, regardless of whom reported it. These venues are out of reach for the masses and we “addicts” rely on y’all’s coverage.

Ups, I just found this topic accidently being caught by Russian letters in the name of the subject :) I have to confess I have almost no time to participate in forums, though I like to chat…

Well, I cannot tell for all Russians but we were there and we are not as appalling as media wants to show us (especially recently with that stupid case of former UK spy poisoned in UK. By the way, I am completely not Putin’s adherent but in this particular case it seems strange to me, all Russian dissidents have been killed in UK, not in Russia or other European countries. Maybe problem is in UK, not in Russia :) ) Anyhow, you should understand that is the role of the media to program your mind to what they need. So, that is too naïve to trust to them in any aspects of the life and, including airgun world :)

I am very grateful to AEAC openly saying that they’ve appeared only at the stands of the airgun producers who had paid them. And I completely understand that motives. We say in Russia – one who has paid would dance a girl :) That is normal, that is business.

Could I pay AEAC or other bloggers to make a report about my guns? No doubt I could. Am I greedy? I don’t think so. So, what is the problem I would be asked? The problem is that I am still the same naïve enthusiast I was 17 years ago when I’ve been starting EDgun. The problem is I still consider what I do as hobby, as fun, as good activity, which, luckily, gives me some profit to live and feed my family. So I am one among small numbers of those lucky guys who turns the hobby into the business in one or the other aspects of this word.

I know that business requires the different approaches, I know It will turn to be more profitable, to buy media, to buy bloggers etc, but I don’t want to do it. It is stupid but that is fact. I still believe that the power is in the truth, not in the money. I’ll tell you one story from early EDgun history. A friend of mine, from Moscow has bought my early Matador. He was very popular blogger in Russian segment of airgun forums. People liked him writing and making the reviews. There were some problems with the gun. I just have sent him ordinary gun, as to any of my clients. He was very angry with me, saying “What the f..k, Ed, I am your friend, I could make a good review for your gun, why didn’t you choose the best one for me?!” I answered him simple – The only way to be in a success is to make things good. Not good for somebody who can gives you good review, but for everybody. If I am focused on the making good guns for those who makes reviews and pay no attention to the others, I would fail in the long term run. So, I prefer to get a very bad review which will cause me some troubles, no doubt, taking into consideration your reputation and the fact, that people trust you, but I prefer to increase the quality of my guns for everybody, step by step…”

You must be sure, review was very tough, I got very bad reaction of the public and the potential customers, I knew it would happen that way but I accepted it as I believed it was the only way to move forward and I still believe that! So, as I am still afloat I think that I was right. By the way that guy is not making any reviews, nobody remembers his name etc. And I repeat one more time – truth will beat money :) That is why I am not going to pay to bloggers in order to have a good press… That is why you will not see the adv. of my guns in a way you are used to :) Am I sad about that? I don’t think so… Those who want to get independent information will find it. Those who are ready to eat what has been cooked for them by others don’t need any other food.

As for IWA – it was very interesting, this year I got bigger booth, I still have a great team, I met a lot of people I had a lot of good talks and not all of them about the money and weapon. I had talked with Joe Brancato for over an hour just about the life not about guns, I talked with Masood from UK and not about the guns as well, I met in person the Sniper from Kuwait and we talked and to my surprise he turned to be a normal guy when we talk the same language, and you’ve seen already that video. I met a lot of nice and inspired by weapon and airguns people and that makes me sure that I am on the right way – to work for enthusiasts not only for money. We all are the emotional animals and the emotions are much more important than money I know it for sure!

I made few videos about IWA 2018

You can see it here:

When I will upload more video I will put it here as well...

@Edgun

Ed, I hope I didn’t butcher the Russian words, I don’t speak Russian, so I just looked it up and copied it.

Also, I was not trying to be political either. Although I have very strong political opinions, being born in Cuba will do that to you, but I try to keep it out for the most part. Just trying to be provocative and a bit funny.

When are the new scopes coming? Price? Any plans for the future of the Leshiy?

Thanks!

No, no, no I consider your post absolutely normal and, in fact I don't feel hurt when somebody speaks about Russian in different way :) We all the same whatever politics whant us to think.

As for the plans, Brian will get sample of the Stalker scope tomorrow and I hope he will make the review of it. I expect him to get them for sale in the end of April/Beginning of May, at least I will do my best to provide him the the scopes. He has some R5M long in .25 already and I will try to delivery him more R5M in all calibers as well as Lelya 2.0.

I stil working hard on the new projects and I hope to bring them to you within a year or so. So, everything is fine with me and with my company!

Ed

I had a look through the Stalker scope at the IWA, it's a very nice little scope! I liked the gun that's underneath it even more, really love the lelya 2.0 since I had to play with it at the IWA.

The little stalker scope is mainly targeted towards hunting if you ask me. It's a fixed magnification scope with a clearly visible reticle but it's a little too thick for real target shooting (also the magnification is quite low for this). Of course it is suitable for target shooting but I would personally like more magnification for this.
As mentioned the scope looks like it's ideally suited for hunting. The scope is lightweight, has a clear image and is nice and compact. As far as I could judge it over at the IWA it felt very robustly build. The focus/parallax is adjustable on the top, which in combination with the compactness of the lelya and the leshiy works perfectly fine. Of course the image is judged by looking through it in an well lighted indoor hall, also looked at some dark spots in corners near the roof but it still showed a decent image over there. Hope to be able to test it in outside conditions someday, especially at dusk since that is the ultimate test if you ask me :)

Had a little chat with Ed over at the IWA and then you can really hear he's a down to earth guy. No bullpoop but relations build on trust, loyalty and honesty. Really like that! Keep it going Ed, you had some really nice products this year!
