National50 Practice cards FX Crown and Savage MKII

Been working with the FX Crown to get it more consistent. Feel I have a good setup from where it was initially. It is shooting JSB 25.3 RD no lube, at 935-940 fps. Below are 2 targets shot in decent conditions.

Wow, may I have my balls back now? ;) Great shooting with both. For the Rimfire, did you plug those to 0.224"? And the pellets to 0.350"?

Hi Steve,

The 250 21x rimire was scored using both plugs. Since we will be switching to the .350 plug for factory rimfire i just replugged it. It was a 16x so picked up 5 x's.

The pellet was scored with .350 plug

Thanks,

Joe

Joef,

Wow! I'd say your "working with the Crown" has paid off. I struggle with having at least one or 2 "flyers" per card with my Crown. Do you sort the MRDs in any way? Excellent shooting; with both guns!

Regards,

Phil

Thank you Phil. I will get flyers on occasion, sometimes that flier isn't a flier but a missed condition. No prep to the pellets

Joe

Great shooting Joe.

Looking forward to trying out my Anschutz .22 LR factory rifles with the .350 plugs. I finally got some RWS 50 ammo. Also going to test the RAW vs. RW Safari.

Mike N corrected my scoring process ( I was using the plugs incorrectly), after seeing too many of my posted NAT 50 cards which were unintentionally scored too low.

Hi Joe,

I'm a Steve and on Centercut's/Mike's team if you were perhaps thinking of me. Mike N might have mentioned me - I don't know if he has or not??, but he has for sure mentioned you, if indeed you are that guy who is a great BR shooter and been to his place before.

BTW that's awesome shooting!

Thanks guys. Yes Mike has mentioned you Steve, but I'm not that guy just someone who is passionate about precision shooting.

What is interesting about the Pellet targets the 249 if scored with .22 cal plug would have been a 248, the 250 would have been a 246. It just shows how much the .350 plug will help especially with the right hit on target.

The same thing I tried to accomplish with the Savage. The first target was shot not with my best ammo and it would have scored a 244 using .22 cal plug. The second target was shot with my best ammo for that rifle, plus the conditions were ideal and with some luck not one bull had to be plugged except for X count.

Yes both rifles are capable of some really good scores, but they and myself can have those moments of just so so scores.

Very impressive! Especially if you are using the factory trigger!!!

Looks like we had the same idea of fitting the ST chassis. I got one a couple weeks ago but can't use it because the chassis won't fit when there is a FX Boss trigger installed on the Crown. The Boss trigger is 1000% better than the Crown trigger so I'm going to get the chassis machined to fit.

Got any tips on using the chassis? It looks like you have added something to the bag rider. Correct? Did you disable the folding mechanism?

I can't decide if I want to add a 3" plate, or just use it as is with a 2 1/4" front bag.

Thank you. Using factory trigger which is fine, no issues with it. Have shot the chassis without adding front channel and personally did not like it. It is more stable with. Funny thing when contacting Saber about incorporating a front piece for BR they blew me off. It would be so simple to do but figured not many if any would use the channel, they would prefer a high end bi-pod or tri-pod. The chassis is rigid in the front rest and rear bag setup, will be changing what they call a bag rider to something more practical. Will also try locking the rear to see if it makes a difference. Just added weight to that portion of the bag rider. Also added a different grip to the mix.
